AUDITORIUM

An important element of a feasibility study is the

assessment of demand for performing arts within the
community that facility is proposed to serve. The aim is to
establish whether there are audiences for the proposed
program of use, and to define a catchment area from
which audiences are to be drawn.

SEATING CAPACITY

The maximum seating capacity of an auditorium depends

upon the format selected and on aural visual limitations
set by the type of production. Other factors includes
levels, sightlines, acoustics , circulation, seating density
and stage.

SIZE OF AUDITORIUM

An area of at least 0.5 sq. meter is to be used for sitting

spectators. This number is derived from a seat width x row
spacing of at least 0.45 sq. meter per seat. c

Good view without head movement,

but slight eye movement approx.30
degree.
Good view with slight head
movement and slightly eye
movement of about 60 degree.
Maximum perception angle without
head movement is about
110degree.
ELEVATION
elevation of seating is
obtained from lines of
vision.

LENGTH OF ROWS

seats per aisle is permissible if one side

DANCE STUDIO

Big spaces: both wide and with high ceilings.

A level dance examinations require 10m x 10m, that is a dance space of 10m x 7.5m with space for the
examiner to sit 2.5m back in order to have a wide view

Smooth, buffered (cushioned), and warm floors: contemporary dancers dance barefoot, so its
important that the surface is not dangerous for the feet and glides.

Enough ventilation: this means, as much fresh air as possible.

NATURAL SUNLIGHT. This is something that makes part of our particular sensibility.
