COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF

DIFFERENT
FILTERS FOR DENOISING IN MEDICAL
IMAGE SEGMENTATION

Abstract
In our proposed we compare to the different types of algorithm for
medical image de-noise.
De-noise is the one of the preprocessing step in all type medical image
processing.
We design the flitter for de-noising the image medical image and
compare those filter and fine which one is best for the image de-noising.

Introduction
The medical image the de-noising is the one of the important steps for better accurate
post processing result.
There are so many noise removal algorithm used remove different type of noise in the
image.
The most common noise in image is white noise and impulse noise is also there is very
low level in the image.
In our paper we remove the following noise in medical image with better noise filter
algorithm.

Existing
In existing remove the white noise in the medical image by using the
Rank, Gaussian and sigma filters.
In existing system those following filter the Gaussian is one of the best
filter for remove the white noise in better level.
But it take several disadvantages so we can develop new type of filter
to remove the noise in very well level.

Disadvantages
In existing algorithm only remove the white noise in the medical
image.
There is affect the original pixel so the over smoothening is possible in
the existing algorithm.

Proposed
In proposed we develop the two algorithms for remove the noise in the
medical image.
The fuzzy logic based impulse noise removal it will apply after remove the
white noise by Gaussian filter, it is remove the impulse noise in the image.
Then we use weighted encoding sparse non-local regularization, it remove
the both white and color noise of the image.

Advantages
The Gaussian filter only remove the white noise after we apply the
fuzzy logic to remove the color noise so there is two different noise is
remove in the image.
The WESNR filter the both white and color noise in image with better
quality.

Gaussian filter
Gaussian smoothing is very effective for removing Gaussian noise.
The weights give higher significance to pixels near the edge (reduces edge

blurring). They are linear low pass filters.

Computationally efficient (large filters are implemented using small 1D filters).
Rotationally symmetric (perform the same in all directions).
The degree of smoothing is controlled by (larger for more intensive

smoothing).

Fuzzy logic
After using the Gaussian filter we remove the impulse noise by using
the fuzzy logic.
The impulse noise only contained black and white pixels, so we
remove it using fuzzy logic function.
The fuzzy work with basic rule, we give the fuzzy rules in the image it
will remove unwanted black and white pixel in the image.

WESNR (weighted encoding sparse non-local

regularization)
The WESNR remove the white noise and impulse noise in single
process.
Here we need not the Gaussian for remove the white noise.
The WESNR remove the noise pixel based on regularization of the
weighted of the pixel. weighted encoding sparse non-local
regularization

Analyze
The analyze process gives the result of the both filter and it will very
useful to compare the both filters.
In analyze process we use the parameter of the standard, deviation,
MSE, STM(standard deviation to mean ratio) and also histogram
graph of the noise removal image.

Conclusion
After the analyze we compare the parameter result of the both filter.
The performance of the filters are validated by some parameters like mean, standard
deviation, standard deviation to mean ratio (STM), and mean square error (MSE).
Mean is the average value, it may be average intensity or average of pixels in a
region. Standard deviation is the most common way to describes the range of
variation. STM indicates the ability of a filter to reduce the speckle noise and the
MSE, which shows the error value or the difference between the estimated value
and the original value
