What is HFMD?
It is a common human syndrome caused by highly
contagious intestinal virus.
It mainly affects infants and children, but can
occasionally occur in adults.
It is typically characterized by a mild fever followed
by a rash of flat discolored spots and bumps that
may blister, involving the skin of the hands, feet,
mouth, and occasionally the buttocks and genitalia

MILD FEVER (up to 39C) can help


the immune system to get rid of
an infection.
RASH OF FLAT DISCOLORED is the
skin may become itchy, bumpy,
chapped, scaly, or otherwise
irritated. Rashes are caused by a
wide range of conditions,
including allergies, medication,
cosmetics, and various diseases.
BUMPS is a raised protrusion on
the skin such as a pimple, goose
bump, prayer bump, lie bumps,
etc.

> (through public address) We post information through
facebook we inform people here through tarpaulin and fliers.

health programs against communicable,
emerging, and re-emerging diseases?
> Very effective, the people here in the community is
being treated by free medicines, it helps them to
regenerate faster and free vaccination for protecting the
people who live here in the community.
4. What are the indicators of the programs
effectiveness?
> Before they start the medical mission 30% of the
community members are ill but after it, it reduces to 3%.

What are the programs of the Department of


Health for emerging and re- emerging infectious
diseases?
The Department of Healths program on emerging and
re-emerging hand, foot and mouth disease aims to
prevent and control emerging and re-emerging hand,
foot and mouth disease from becoming public health
problems.
It also trying to reduce public health impact of
emerging and re-emerging hand, foot and mouth
disease and strengthen surveillance, preparedness,
response to emerging and re-emerging hand, foot and
mouth disease.

How can we prevent the spread


of communicable diseases?
We can prevent the spreading of communicable
diseases by washing our hands often, clean the
areas where we use frequently, cover your mouth
when you cough or sneeze, used tissues should be
place in the waste basket immediately so that the
contents do not come in contact with other surface
areas, avoid close contact with contagiuos people
and stay home if you have sick, proper nutrition and
adequate exercise and sleep also protect you from
communicable diseases.
