Boot philosophy
BOOTLEG
PACKAGE
•“Bootlegs,” meaning we are going to fake a
run in one direction, and roll the QB opposite
the fake! These are excellent plays against
LBs who overpursue against our best running
plays!
•All receivers use the same route rules for all
•In our basic boot package, the OLine(Post,

-If you feel a guy start to split you, abort course & ‘twist’ him
into pile/man in front of you!

C BS G: PULL & LOG FS EMOL. Pull step past C, deepen at
once, head on a swivel. Arrive at EMOL just as chipper
leaves, ‘happy dog’ feet to pin him.

E T T E *Use same basic assignment rules from ‘Reach’ family of runs

FS G: Play Action Reach to the number
FS T: Play Action Reach. Call TWO if 2 men on/outside!

FS Outs: Top of #s split. Run GO POCKET, as on 4 route
H (Strong/Weak/+/-):
(Strong/Weak/+/-): Receiver rules. Must make “I’m Inside” FS Mid: SPLIT. Your job is to clear safety traffic for the
call from Strong/Weak.
Strong/Weak. “H” tells you & R to switch jobs! Over route.Run through far shoulder of nearest safety. Vs. a
2-safety look, straighten once past his shoulder.
QB: Step to course of the run play indicated, extend ball after FS Ins/TE: “PIN” ARROW. Pin E.M.O.L. 2 counts, working to
1st step. LOOK at RBs numbers where you would hand the outside shoulder, then release to Flat 4-5 yards deep. Get
ball, PAUSE slightly to follow the RB’s course as he passes head around! Lose your route if necessary to secure edge.edge.

if he collapses (Flat to Pocket to Over), just as on the 4 route! “H” call tells you to run Pin Arrow!
