DESIGN IN SPACE
the body is the medium of

feelings.

or through space), focus
(direction of gaze/eyesight),
and pathway (curved or
straight)

DYNAMICS OR
FORCE
the bodys exertion

It describes the
character of the
movement as being
sharp or
smooth, heavy or light,
tight or loose, and
tensed or relaxed

RHYTHM OR TIME
the whole is framed like
in music.
Beat (underlying pulse),
tempo (fast or slow),
accent (a difference
or contrast in stress),
duration (long or short),
and patter
(combinations).

MOTIVATION
the impetus for the
body movement.
It is the way the mover
feels inside, the story
behind the
movement, the reason
why the person moved
in a certain way.

establishing and
developing the scenes.

MIMETIC DANCE
In the Philippines,
mimetic dances are
considered indigenous
drama, together with
rituals, verbal play and
songs.

directly imitative
occupational activities,
movement of animals
and history of
community

Mimetic dance, like any


form of indigenous drama,
rose from the peoples own
lives, answering definite
needs, working for
all the people of the
community in consolidation
