Find your own topic or subject.


Do your research or background analysis on the subject

matter.
*Your knowledge on the subject matter will enhance your
confidence level and directly will affect your audience's
impressions and keep their attention.

3. Know your self-ability

Explore your own strengths and weaknesses and try to

balance it in the presentation.


Know your own limit and this might avoid embarrassment.
We must push our limits more than we may be comfortable

because this is how human being will learn and grow.

4. Know your purpose

You have to determine the purpose whether to sell, educate,

or entertainment.
State that purpose to yourself at the beginning of the

development process.
This will control the direction of your presentation.

5. Prepare your script

OPENING
You have to give a brief outline on the topic to be presented
together with the points to be covered.
BODY
The body of a long presentation should be separated into
smaller part.
Each part should has a single point, explanations as well as

examples.

CLOSING
Briefly emphasizes each key point or idea for your audience
to review the subject and assures that your words will remain
fresh in their minds.
QUESTION & ANSWER
You should encourage questions from the audience but be
prepared to answer them. If you do not know the correct
answer to a question, don't try to fake it!

6. Select proper visual aids

An item of illustrative matter or visual aids will help the

audience to illustrate the subject matter by the speaker.


Make sure they are simple and visible to the entire

audience.
Examples:
Power Point slide show, Paper handout, Flip chart, Video,
Poster, Photograph, 3D Model, People, Cue cards and etc.

7. Rehearse your presentation

You can do it in front of the mirror to know exact image or

expression that you will project to the audience.


You can make some of your friends to be the audiences as

well.
You can also record your presentation and do

improvisation.
*This will assures the level of readiness of the whole presentation.

8. Present with authority

Dress up formally.
Arrive and set up early.
Stand straight and speak clearly with the ability to control the

audience.
You can add a little humour.
In order to attract the audience, the speaker should maintain

body posture, eye-contact, facial expression & hand gesture.

Use design templates.


Use background colors that contrast.
Standardize position, colors and styles.
Include only necessary information and clear points.
Be consistent with effect, transitions and animation.

Text guidelines

Generally not more than 8 words per line, 5 lines per slide.
Font size ranges from 18 to 48 point.
Larger font to indicate more important information.
Be sure texts are contrast with the background.
Avoid using long sentences, all capital letters, fancy font,

abbreviations and acronyms.

Clip art & graphics guidelines

Must be simple, edited and does not contain any negative

elements such as sex, abuse, drugs and violence.


Should enhance and complement the text, not overwhelm.
It is advisable to include not more than 3 graphics per

slide.
