Solution Workbench
The Solution Workbench in Epicor ERP 10 is
a replacement for the Solution Manager in
Epicor 9.
The idea behind this tool has not changed
but the way it works is very different. Some
of the new features are:
Ability to Filter Tracked Elements
Expanded Ability to Package Non-Standard Components
Auto Tracking of Changes
Flexible Definition of Standard Elements

What Makes up a Solution?

Solutions can contain:
Auto-Tracked Elements Defined
Manually Selected Components
This is one of the most common methods as you can package
things like UI Customizations, BPMs, and BAQs you have created
into one package

Why use a Solution?

This allows you to work in multiple areas and package

them to be installed during an upgrade or migration as

opposed to importing one by one.
Allows users to create elements in a Test db at the same

ERP version and build the solution to be installed in what

would be your Live DB at Go-Live

You have the ability to add Tracked items or
already created elements to a solution
You can do this by moving tracked items to the

Solution being built or search using the Add To Solution

option

Workbench
Tracked Tab Selected:
Elements that Display on the Left Pane
Summary of the Elements that have been tracked
under this Solution
Are filtered to only the Elements of the Solution Type

Elements that Display in the Right Pane

Detail information for the actual tracked records in the
selected Element in the left pane
Display Columns are based on the Display Columns
defined in Element Maintenance

Items in the solution can be of different type
Meaning, you can have a solution with tracked items and also
Dashboards, BAQs and BPMs packaged into one solution

Finalizing the Solution

Once you are happy with your Solution Contents, you can
select Actions > Build Solution
Build option allows you to define the name of the solution
file (.cab) and where you want to save to your Server.
Documentation about what elements are in the solution
can be included

Installing a Solution
To install a
solution, select
the option from
the Action Menu
and navigate to
the .cab file and
select it.
You have options
to overwrite any
existing elements
in the database
and whether to
put it in the
current company
or all companies
