For the questions at word level, four questions ( Question 1-4 )


will be given. You have to choose the best word to fill in each
blanks.

There may be one or two pictures included in any of the


questions. The pictures can be of living things or non
living things.
You can use them to help you answer the questions.

For questions without the pictures, you need to read them


carefully. Then, you have to choose the best answers which
are related to the information given in the questions.

There will be three questions ( Questions 5 7 ) given to you


at the phrase level. You will given a short paragraph.
In the paragraph, there are three blanks for you to fill in the
answers.
Each blank comes with a picture to help you.
Based on the contents as well as the pictures given, you
have to choose the best phrases that complete the paragraph.

Choose a group of words that work together to form a


meaningful expression in a sentence.

For questions 8 10, you will be shown a picture for each


question. You will be asked to choose the best sentence that
describes the picture.
In order for you to do well in this part, you must know a lot
of words. These words include the ones given to you under
the World Level and the Phrase Level.

Besides that, you also need to know a lot of action words as


the pictures usually show actions.

There will be six questions ( Questions 16-21) testing you on your grammar
knowledge.
You are required to choose the correct answers to form grammatically correct
sentences.

Some of the questions may include pictures as a guide for you to answer the
questions.
Therefore, what you need to do is , first, look at the pictures carefully.
Then, read the questions as well as the options given.
Finally, use your grammar knowledge as well as the pictures given to choose t
best answer.

For questions 22 23, you will be asked two questions on


spelling. Sometimes, each question will come with a picture.
The picture will help you to choose the correct answer.
In order for you to do well in this section, you need to know
how to spell a lot of basic words.
One way to do this is to study the section on vocabulary.
If you know some basic spelling rules, it might also help you.

Most of the words given will be nouns.


For example, if the picture shows a bicycle, you are to choose
the correct spelling for bicycle.

There will be two questions ( Questions 24 25 ) testing you


on punctuation marks.
You are required to choose the sentence with the correct
punctuation.
You will be tested on any of the following punctuation marks:
a) full stop
b) comma
c) question mark
b) d) colon
e) semicolon f) exclamation mark
g) apostrophe
h) quotation mark
i) capital letters
It is difficult to understand a sentence without punctuation
marks. Therefore, learn to use punctuation marks if you wish to
communicate effectively.

which will test your understanding and usage of grammar and
vocabulary. The questions will consist of a picture as a guide to
the correct answers.
You must always look at the tense of the passage before you
begin to answer the Questions.
How to answer this section:
~ Study the picture carefully because the correct answers are
based on the picture.
~ read the whole text first.
~ Then, read and understand the options.
~ Choose the best options that fit the numbered blanks.
~ Be careful to shade correctly the options that you have
chosen.

First read through the 5 questions given.


Then read the passage once to get an overall idea of what it is all about.
Read it again. This time slowly and carefully.
Read each question carefully.
Read all the alternative given ( that is A,B,C & D ) before choosing the correct
answer.
6. Refer to the portion of the passage which is related to each question. Look out for
clues which will help you to arrive at the correct answer.
7. The questions usually follow the development of the passage. The answer to the first
question is found in the paragraph(s) that are before the paragraph which contains
the answer to the second question and so on.
8. You should therefore work through the questions progressively. In this way, you
wont be wasting time going through the whole passage each time to look for the
answer.
9. If you are not sure of the answer to a question, skip the question and come back to
it when you have finished answering the other questions.
10. If you cannot answer a question, you should:
(a) Read the question and the four alternatives again carefully.
(b) Check the passage again four the answer.
(c) Then cross out the answers that you know are definitely wrong.
(d) Choose the best or closer answer from the remaining answers.
11. For some questions, you have to think of the answers. Although the answer is not
given in the passage, the clues to the answer are given in the passage. Look for
these clues.
12. Always remember to check your answers before you hand them over.
