acting which is stubborn and
in a controlling way.

This is a canted shot which

is angled to a tilting position
which creates a sense of
disorientation this angle can
also be a low angle which

The camera movement used
in this scene is called
panning, this movement is
used to follow the objects
movement wherever it goes.

following the biker and his
movements including the
moments where the ball hits
his bike and her loses control
of his balance.

Dolly out is used in this part of

the advert, this movement
zooms out of the scene or
subject to another scene. It is
sometimes used as a transition
however it shows the audience
that the scene has finished and
gives them an idea of the
subjects whereabouts. It is also
used to have a smooth shot and
angle of the surroundings.

Media Forms- Transitions and

sound

Transitions- In this advert the transitions and edits are

mostly cuts and fades that are used to get as much in to
the advert as possible. The dolly movement is also used
so that it makes it easier to fade in and out of a shot.
Sound (Diegetic)- The sound of objects breaking and
children talking is used often in this advert. It is mostly
evolved around a boy who wishes to be a footballer in
the future so the sounds are of nature and sometimes
everyday sounds of school.

narrator who talks about what is happening in the advert.
There is also faint music in the background to make it
more effective and interesting to watch.

settings for a child, this being; school, home and
football practice. It shows the audience that a
subway is your way and it can be made however
you want it.

changes near the end when it is set on a particular

Audience

The audience of this advert would be young adults and

mainly teenagers. The reason for this is because of the main
person in this advert, who is a very famous footballer. The
target audience could be anyone who is interested in football
and anyone who eats at subway or would like to. This would
draw in the audience due to the star persona and how it fits in
with what they are trying to present to the audience.
The audience could also be children and young people
because of the message to follow your dreams and never
give up because you will find a way and to be inspired by
other people. This will persuade children to follow their
dreams and keep going. It might also convince them that this

Sturridge is following after Pels way of playing

use his head and do it his way, after saying this he is
turned into Daniel now who orders his subway just how
he wants it. This can be inspirational to many children
who want to be footballers. By using a star persona
Subway encourages more customers and audience to
watch and come to subway and have it their way.

Dominant Image

Choice of people- The person in this advert to endorse the

product is Daniel Sturridge who is a famous footballer which
fits in well with the TV advert. It is also very effective
because many customers look up to this footballer therefore
the product will have many customers and buyers.

intimidating and serious yet smug which fits in with the
slogan and shows he is in charge and can have it his way.
His smug look also shows that he has achieved something,
being the subway.
Body language- His chin is up and shoulders high; this
suggest that he is proud and in charge, this also shows that
he has done the right thing to chose subway and what type.

Mise-en-scene

Colour- The colours of this advertisement fit in with

the logo of subway and the theme in general as
well as the colour of the star personas football
shirt. The colours contrast together very effectively
and stand out effectively. There are rays of the
colour in different tones which also makes public
audience stop and look at the posters.
Lighting- The lighting is very focused and clear on
the product and the person to promote the
product. It gives the audience a clear view of the
product and shows them every detail.

Wording/Text

Slogan- The slogan is My Sub My Way. This is effective

and catchy because it is short and snappy. It shows us
that we can have our own way with subways even if we
cant have it with anyone or anything else. There are also
descriptions of the product and who the main image is.
By doing this the advert helps the audience when they
decide to buy their food from subway, it also shows them
that famous people also eat at that certain restaurant.
Font- The font is bold but also matches the general
theme of subway. It also compliments the background
and images well. The background is darker than the font
therefore it stands out above anything else. The font of
the logo at the bottom right matches the colours and has
a bold outline which makes it stand out well.

Props and Costumes

The football kit that is worn by Sturridge matches

the subway colour theme and stands out because
of the events that were taking place in that
specific time. His clothes and posture also shows
how proud he is to be advertising for subway, he
also fits with the slogan and theme. The subway
that is displayed looks very mouth-watering and
shows every detail. Even though there are not
many props or costumes used in this advert it still
catches the eyes of the audience because of the
use of famous people and displaying the product.

Images size

The image size of the star persona is a close up;

this is a close up of Daniel Sturridge, the reason
for the image size to be a close up is to show the
audience that he is in charge and to show his
features which are happy and cocky which
suggests he is proud to have a subway his way.
The image of the subway sandwich is an extreme
close up to show its details and for the audience to
know what it looks like. It also shows the size of
the sandwich to show that it is worth your money
and that it is not small which wont waste your
money.

Image angle

The image of Sturridge is a low angle images to

show that he has power and to make him look
intimidating by the way he is standing. He is also
taken at an angle which also suggests he is proud
of his achievements which in this case is a subway
sandwich. The sandwich is also at and angle and
close to the camera, this makes the sandwich look
more interesting and worth the buy because of the
different toppings and layers you can chose when
buying this sandwich. This also shows the colour
of the bread and how soft and fresh it looks to
catch the view of the audience.

Product and Product

name/company
The product is shown clearly with a caption of what type of sandwich
it is underneath. The product is presented without packaging because
it doesnt need to be hidden away as it is really valuable and
important to anyone that meets its eye. The logo is shown as well,
this shows what company the product is from and how to find it.
Company name- Subway
In 1965, Fred DeLuca borrowed $1,000 from friend Peter Buck to
start "Pete's Super Submarines" in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and in
the following year they formed Doctor's Associates Inc. to oversee
operations of the restaurants as the franchise expanded. The holding
company derives its name from DeLuca's goal to earn enough from
the business to pay tuition for medical school, as well as Buck's
having a doctorate in physics. Doctor's Associates is not affiliated
with, nor endorsed by, any medical organization. In 1968, the
sandwich shop was renamed "Subway".
