Time Credits Quarterly Update

January 2016

Highlights
Launch of the PHE video featuring Time Credits in Chorley.
715 people have watched the video which was shared
extensively centrally and across all our regions.
Chorley Evaluation results two page overview and
infographic created.
The Chorley Conversation - report now finalised .
Chorley Time Credit Spend survey launched mid September.
Over 50 responses. Results now in and plans to respond to
feedback underway.
Increase in Community Spend activities set up by groups
involved in Time Credits.
A great Christmas spend offer to use Time Credits to ride the
Big Wheel made available by the events team at Chorley
Council
Expanded spend offer from Merlin in Blackpool.

The Chorley Conversation


5 workshops varying from schools, service user
advocacy groups , community groups, rural groups
and general members of the community.
8 in-depth interviews with individuals who care for
services users, are low level and / or long term
service users, dont use services and work with
those who access multiple services.
The final report was based on three strong themes
of:

Community Cohesion

New Community Groups


Harmony Hub
Initially joined as a spend partner but now using Time
Credits for their existing volunteers but also to attract
more new volunteers.
The Hub is a holistic community centre that offers a
range of groups, courses and events alongside
holistic therapies .
Their aim is to work with more members of the
community who are traditionally less likely to use
holistic therapies to improve their wellbeing .
People will be able to earn by facilitating or assisting
in the running of groups, meet and greet, general
maintenance jobs and other organisational duties.

Clayton Brook Grow to Share
Set up by local residents in Clayton Brook with the
main aim of to grow food to eat and share and to
grow individuals and the community.
They intend to use Time Credits to support long term
sustainability of the group and to support individuals
to become more active in creating a strong and
vibrant community.
They will be running a mix of classes from jam
making and baking to building raised beds and using
power tools.

New Community Groups


Help the Homeless
Volunteers will be earning Time Credits by giving
advice; helping to organise and assemble food
parcels and household effects packages; planning
and performing fundraising events; helping with
administrative and receptionist tasks .
Spend: People will be able to access mediation
sessions provided by a qualified volunteer. Access to
sessions are flexible and uncapped.

New Community Groups


Weight Management Peer Support Group
Set up by Gillian Welsh, member of Chorley Peer
Support Group and who also featured in the recent
Public Health England video.
The group meet weekly to offer each other support
and motivation to manage their weight. They share
recipes, ideas and talk about how they are
progressing.
The group aim to link with other community
activities to increase physical activity and many
attendees will use their credits to access other
exercise opportunities.
Start up support including 12 weeks of room hire
kindly provided by Chorley Council Community

Christmas Markets trip on 12th Dec.

Continuation and extension to existing offer.


Merlin Entertainments have confirmed their
involvement with the Time Credits programme for
2016.
The offer will be extended to include the Dungeon
and Jungle Jims.
Merlin are also opening up Sea Life and Madame
Tussauds from April 2016 to Time Credits

Chorley Live was made available to Time Credit


volunteers for a 2nd year running.
The feedback was very positive from members
with 64 wristbands tickets sold equating to 512
Time Credits received back in to the system.
Huge thanks to the Union St front desk triage team
for carrying out the transactions!

Community Spend
Home-Start co-hosted a First Aid Community spend
for Time Credit volunteers
The session was delivered by Chorley Angels who
are also part of the Chorley Time Credit
programme.
Over 20 members attended the event that had
been advertised to the network. Attendance was 2
Time Credits per person
A follow-up event is being planned for early next
year in response to very positive feedback
received from participants.

Home-Start also hosted a Craft Event delivered by Chorley
Play Partnership who recently joined the Time Credits
network.
This session was delivered in half term and was themed
around Halloween.
28 Time Credits were taken in over 4 hours.
Lots of families attended both from very local areas to those
in parishes outside of the town centre.
Member with similar interests shared knowledge and the
session helped to raise awareness of services and facilities
available at host organisation venue.

Community Earn and Spend


Charnock Richard Scarecrow Group used Time Credits to
thanks volunteers who helped to set up and this years
Scarecrow Festival.
To encourage spending the group lead exchanged the Time
Credits for wristbands for Chorley Live knowing that it would
be popular with all the volunteers
For their spend offer the group ran a How to Make a
Scarecrow event at Tatton Community Centre.
With scarecrow festivals becoming more popular across
Chorley the sharing of these skills proved really helpful and
best of all it was reported to be a really fun session.
