INTRODUCTION
Sheep is one of the most reared
domesticated animals in Bangladesh.
They are habitually scavengers and
hence the roaming of sheep favor the
uptake of endoparasitic eggs which
make them particularly susceptible to
infestation with liver fluke and other GI
parasites .

Objectives
To evaluate the comparative efficacy of
different anthelmintics against liver fluke and
GI parasites in sheep on the basis of EPG
count.
To study the influence of these preparations on
some haematological parameters in sheep.

Materials and Methods

Study period : January, 2015 to midFebruary, 2015.
Study area : Cross-sectional type study where
the samples were collected from Sylhet
Sadar.
Selection of animal : Twenty eight(28) sheep
were selected randomly irrespective to age
and sex.

Continuation.
Collection and preservation of fecal Sample :
Freshly voided feces
Directly from anus and
From viscera
The samples were preserved in 10% formalin.
Examination of fecal samples :
The fecal samples were processed for microscopic
examination to find out the eggs and cyst by direct smear
method.
Quantitative estimation was done by modified Stolls Ova
Counting technique for counting the EPG/CPG.

Continuation.
Statistical analysis :
The data were entered into Microsoft Excel
(version 2007). Then it was imported and
analyzed through SPSS (Version 20).

RESULTS

Five types of endoparasites were detected.eg.

Schistosoma sp. (24.41%)
Fascioloposis sp. (66.27%)
Ascaris suum (70.93%)
Strongyloides sp. (38.37%)
Balantidium coli (52.32%).
Overall prevalence was 100%.

CONCLUSIONS

It was the first report in Chittagong. The

problem associated with the endoparasitic
diseases in pig had represented major
challenges for pork industry development in
Bangladesh. The identified endoparasites
were prevalent in pig in prescribed area.
Though the study had some limitations,it will
help the future researchers in stuyding the
following areas.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the problem of
parasitic infection in the pig is highly
prevalent in the study area as such a
through and extensive work on different
aspect of endoparasites in pig including
its control measures are necessary .
