Professor Colin Sumner


Sociologist at the Cambridge [University] Institute
of Criminology for 18 years world-leading research
centre at no 1 uni at that time; MPhil Programme
Director; sole supervised 14 PhDs, 170 Masters
Author of 9 books, notably the Sociology of
Deviance, Reading Ideologies, Crime Justice &
Underdevelopment, and Censure, Politics and
Criminal Justice. Editor of CrimeTalk and a book
series on criminology, and founder of Theoretical
Criminology
With of course collaboration from many departments
here at UCC and the support of Caroline Fennell
Also, the developer of suites of criminology degrees
at UEL and Salford, still going strong at 60 a year

general?

Jobs? No guarantees anywhere, and


postgrad/vocational always needed, but
crime, conflict and justice issues tend
not to go away. Always in the media
