style, Kunju Sahib set forth organizing the illiterate and down-trodden
minorities for the freedom movement.

Kerala State Lotteries was established in 1967, under

the lottery department by the Government of Kerala and it was the first of
its kind in India. The department was a brain child of the then Finance
Minister of Kerala, the late Shri. P. K. Kunju Sahib, who envisaged
revenue from sale of lotteries as a major source of non-tax revenue for the
state, at the same time providing a stable income source for the poor and
the common. The department was successful soon and has grown
throughout the state of Kerala by contributing to the needful.

Contributions

AI-Haj P.K.Kunju Sahib, and his wife Mrs.Jameela Beevi founded a

network of educational institutions such as the Azad Memorial
Nursery School, AI-Amen Public School, and M.S.M. College. The
P.K.Kunju Sahib Memorial Higher Secondary School has been started
consequent to the de-linking of Pre-Degree Course from the M.S.M.
College. The Jameela Beevi Memorial Centre for Teacher Education,
established on June 2005, is the novel addition to this educational
complex. This institution is situated in the heart of the Kayamkulam
town, hardly one kilometer from the KSRTC Bus station.

Fight inequalities wielding education as a powerful weapon.
