HISTORICAL
BACKGROUND
The Aravali hill is the host of copper
minerals, with a 76km. long belt from
Singhana to Raghunathgarh, popularly
known as Khetri Copper belt.
KCC is located at Khetri Nagar near the old
princely town of Khetri in Jhunjhunu district
of Rajasthan which is 190 km. away from
New Delhi and 175 km. away from Jaipur,
capital of Rajasthan.

MISSION OF THE COMPANY

To develop Indian copper industry on sound
lines by exploring deposits and develop
new copper deposits of adopting
appropriate cost effective measures and
introducing modern technology in order to
maximize indigenous production there by
minimizing imports.
Expansion of smelter plant to increase
production of blister copper fro 31000
metric tones.

Mining is the extraction of
valuable minerals or other
geological materials from
the earth from an ore
body , lode or reef which
forms mineralized
package of economic
interest to the miner

MINING OF COPPER

CRUSHING
It is a process of breaking
large lumps of copper into
smaller pieces.
It is done by pressing
lumps between two
opposite bodies to break,
pound or grind (stone or
ore) into small fragments
or powder.

Grinding is process which
is used to convert small
pieces of copper lumps
into powder form.
It can be done in ball mill.

Copper pyrite or chalcopyrite (CuFeS2).
Chalocite (Cu 2 S) or copper glance.

Azurite blue [2CuCO3.Cu(OH)2].

CONCENTRATION
When an ore has a low percentage of the desired metal,
a method of physical concentration must be used before
the extraction process begins. In one such method , the
ore is crushed and place and place in a machine where ,
by shaking ,the heavier particles containing the metal
are separated from the lighter rock particles by gravity .

FLOTATION PROCESS: Flotation process, in mineral treatment and

mining process for concentrating the
metal-bearing mineral in an ore, crude ore
is ground to a fine powder and mixed with
water, frothing reagents and collecting
reagents. When air is blow through the
mixture, mineral particles cling to the
bubbles, which rise to form a froth on the
surface. The waste materials settling to the
bottom. The froth is skimmed off, and the
water and chemicals are distilled or
otherwise removed, leaving a clean
concentrate. The process, also called the

SUGGESTIONS
The Company must take every step to
ensure a continuous and regular supply of
raw material, so as to accelerate the
production.
Fertilizer plant should be restarted with new
technology and new planning
The foremost suggestion is that the list of
the items must be update and reviewed
regularly.
Refinery plant also should be restarted with
new technology.
