HOW TO

PLAN A
LESSON

Developing The Plan

After writing the lesson objectives, teachers
must decide the activities and procedures to
ensure the successful attainment of these
objectives.
The generic lesson plan has five phases

perspective or the opening

Stimulation
Instruction/participation
Closure
Follow-up

Stimulation

perspective
or the
opening

Generic Component of
Lesson Plan [1]
asks students
questions such
as:

What was the previous activity

What concepts have they
learned?

then gives a preview

of the new lesson

poses questions to get the students thinking about

the coming activity
helps stds relate their activity to their lives
begins with attention grabber: anecdote ,
picture, etc
Use the response of the attention grabber as a lead
to the activity

Generic Component of
Lesson Plan [2]
Instruction/
participation

presents the activity

Checks students understanding
Encourages active students involvement
Use pairwork and group work

Closur
e

Check what the students have learned

Followup

Reinforce some concepts

Gives preview about the possibilities of the

future lesson

Give students opportunities to do independent

work (Homework)
