chalklike,ceramicmaterial)liningthat

reflectsheatbackintothefurnace.

areintheroofofthefurnacesoNOTin
contactwiththedirectflamesinthefirebox.
Hotcombustiongasestransferheatthroughthe
metaltubes(oftenfinnedtubestoincrease
efficiency)andintotheprocessfluid.
Convectiveheattransfertypicallyaccountsfor
35%ofthetotalheatabsorbedbytheprocess
stream(oil,etc.).

Thenisolate(blockoff)theprimaryfeed
pumpandgetitfixedASAP.

Flameout
Occurswhentheburnerflamegoesoutwiththe
fuelstillbeingpumpedintoit.
Nowwehaveunburnedfuelinsidethefurnace.
Oftenhappenswhenthereisnotenoughairinthe
burner.
Solution:Shutdownthefurnace.Stopfuelintothe
burner/furnace.Thisisadangeroussituation!
