Introduction

Problem Statement

Concrete is a building material that has

been widely used in the construction
industry. History records show concrete has
been used as a building material as early as
the 1850s. Demand for the use of concrete
in the construction industry saw the need
for various types of concrete and to meet
various application requirements.

Shortages of raw materials and the

high cost of construction causes some
to find other alternatives to cut costs to
be more economical.

Objective

Determine the compressive strength of concrete mixed

with critical construction waste
Compare with normal concrete mix concrete mixes
studied in terms of compressive strength and
workability

Scope Of Research

This experimental work was conducted to obtain surplus tiles construction

sites housing project to produce concrete and testing of concrete. Percentage of roof
tiles replaced with river sand in the concrete mix is 0% (control), 5% waste roof tiles
and roof tiles 10% and 20% waste roof tiles.

To study the strength of concrete, two experiments will be carried out on the
concrete, which was coupled with concrete roof tiles in the laboratory of Civil
Engineering Department (JKA) PTSB a compression test and drop test.

residential use.

is made from a mixture of sand,

portland cement and water is pressed into
the mold so produce a compact and
uniform with an estimated size of 420 mm
x 330 mm.

It

is designed with a high fire resistance

and tiles should be installed on top of the
ceiling with a certain gauge according to
the type of tiles used.

Methodology
The

research methodology is a careful planning in terms of a project that will

be done so that each stage of a project will not stray from the path laid down
or to be more precise, the final outcome of the study will meet the
requirements of the problem is to be achieved. Therefore, it is important to
know and understand the depth of each process found in the structure of the
study methodology.

Method for Preparation of Concrete Cubes.

1.

Cement taken in accordance with the syllabus prescribed by the calculation of the mixture and add
cement to the metal tray for brewing.

2.

Sand reduced by 5%, 10% and 20% of the weight of concrete.

3.

The sand must be screened first for separating foreign objects before putting into the mix.

4.

Roof tile will be crushed and sifted sand size.

5.

Then the tiles will be 5%, 10% and 20% into the concrete to replace the sand.

6.

Water is added to the mix in the measure set. The water depends on each mix.

7.

After that, mix cement, sand, aggregates, tiles and water until well blended into the concrete mix.

8.

After that, enter the concrete mixture into the mold, measuring 150mm x 150mm x 150mm.

9.

Compact the concrete in the mold of stamping by using stuffing. Stamping is done by 35 times.
Repeat this method 3 times.

10.

Upon completion of the compaction process, the concrete is in the mold just flattened at the top.
Then the concrete was placed into the mold just saved into the workshop.

Slump Test
Slump test is to ensure the consistency of the concrete
and also control the power. This is a rough test
conducted on concrete samples at Mix at different
times to ensure that the mixture contains an amount of
water roughly the same, not too thin or too dry. This
test is done in a concrete mix is made. samples must be
taken from newly made smoothies. tools used to
perform this test is a circular iron mold and a diameter
of 16mm.

Compaction Test

Use

of concrete based on its ability to support a

load. Characteristics of the concrete edge is able
to bear the load of concrete. Therefore, the
quality should be tested from time to time.
Method of testing the quality of this can be
done with a compression test. In this test,
several concrete cubes measuring
150mm150mm150mm should be provided first.
This test is done using a compression testing
machine.
