Disruption of Biodiversity
Other organisms will be harmed or die if the biodiversity is
disrupted. Also if economy will go down by not having resources
to use as a profit.
Keystone Species
Keystone species are the species that affect other
species.

Park Size
The dark green area represents three
different park plans. Which plan supports the
most bio-diversity?
Area
A large area will usually contain more
species than a small area
Climate
Tropical rain forests have mostly
consistent temperatures and
lots of rainfall meaning many
plants grow year round. Food is
always available for organisms.
APPLY IT!
Not only can
this happen to
potato plant but
it can also
happen to other
plants in which
we consume in
our daily lives
and without
food we would
all die of
starvation.

Species that
could become
endangered in
the near future.
What is
Niche Diversity- The role of an organism in its habitat or how it
makes its living
Genetic diversity- Greatest genetic diversity exists within unicellular
organisms
Species lacking diverse genes are less capable to adapt and
survive changes to the environment

Damaging Biodiversity
Habitat Destruction:
Clearing forests, filling wetlands,
Or making habitats smaller
Poaching:
illegal killing or removal of wildlife
Pollution:
Reaches animals through water,
food, or the air
Exotic Species:
Exotic species can outcompete
and damage native species
Protecting Biodiversity
Captive Breeding
Captive breeding is the mating of animals in zoos or on
wildlife preserves.
There are many wildlife preserve services.
WE ARE LOSING OVER A DOZEN PLANT AND ANIMAL
SPECIES EVERYDAY.
At this rate is far faster than when the dinosaurs died out 65
million years ago.
Habitat Preservation
If we do this we can save endangered species.
Many countries have set aside wildlife habitats as parks and
refuges.
