Automatic Fan Speed

Controlled by the Used

of Temperature Sensor
By: Al I. Salac

CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

Project Context

O Fans

are widely used in

industrial
and
commercial
applications.
From
shop
ventilation to material handling
to boiler applications, fans are
critical for process support and
human health.

OThis project is entitled

Automatic Fan Speed

Controlled by the Used of
Temperature Sensor.
OThe idea behind this
work is to control the
speed of a fan using
microcontroller based on
variation in temperature.

Statement of the Problem

OThe general problem of the

study is how to develop an

automatic
fan
based
on
temperature sensor, a system
that would give solution to the
alarming
temperature
abnormalities specifically for
the benefit the students and
faculty
of
the
Bulacan
Agricultural State College.

This project seeks to resolve the following

problem:

1. What methods will be

used in order to develop
an automatic fan without
further
human
intervention?

2. In what way can

this
automatic
controlled
fan
be
useful and convenient
to the students and
professors of BASC?

3. What are the benefits

and advantages of this
Automatic Controlled Fan
in every student and
professors of BASC?

Objectives of the Project

OThe general objective of the

project is to develop and

manage an automatic fan
speed
controlled
by
temperature sensor set by a
user of the system for the
classrooms and offices of the
Bulacan
Agricultural
State
College.

Specifically, the study aims to:

O develop a system that can

control and monitor the

speed of the fan based on
the temperature sensor
without human intervention;

O provide

useful and
convenient
fan
for
students
and
professors of BASC;

technologically build an
automatic fan system that
will help to maintain the
good ambiance of the
classrooms and offices in
BASC;

Scope and Limitation of the Project

The
project
entitled
Automatic
Fan
Speed
Controlled by the Used of
Temperature Sensor can be
used at home for the daily living
when weather is not that
comfortable for mankind.

O This can also be used in

some electronic devices

such as laptops, personal
computers, and washing
machines, exhaust fan in
hotels, CD and DVD
players.

OThis

system will provide

advancement of the daily
activities of BASCinians, such
as when having classes,
meetings etc. in a given
classroom.
OWith this system the usage of
air conditioning unit could be
lessened and energy could also
be saved.

OThis project has also limitations

such as it can only be

maintained by a technical
person. Thus, it becomes
difficult to be maintained. Due
to temperature variation, after
sometimes its efficiency may
decrease.

CHAPTER II
BACKGROUND OF THE
CAPSTONE PROJECT

O In

February 2011, an automatic

occupancy and temperature control
for ceiling fan operation was
invented by Danny S. Parker and
Kendall Ryan Johnston in University
Of Central Florida, wherein the
project was to control for tuning the
fan on and off based on a passive
infrared sensor, combined with a
temperature sensor to regulate the
speed of the fan.

CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

OIn

this chapter, the

developer shows the
different diagrams and
figures that will serve as
a representation of the
whole system.

OProgramming in VB.Net is a

combination
of
visually
arranging
components
or
additional lines of code or more
functionality.
OAs for the database, we will be
using MySQL since it is the
most convenient and easy to
use in database development.

OThe

Institute has four

courses, Food Technology,
Geodetic
Engineering,
Information Technology and
Agricultural
Engineering
that has a total number of
eighty-six students that will
benefit in this study.

OThe

Automatic Fan Speed

Controlled by the Used of
Temperature Sensor will be
given to the company of the
Institute of Engineering and
Applied Technology with the
helping hand of Mr. GM
Villacorta.

Requirement Specification
OThe

client
asked
the
proponents to develop an
Automatic
Fan
Speed
Controlled by the Used of
Temperature Sensor that will
help people in conserving
energy and time consumption
with regards to manipulating
the panel button of a fan.

OIt is also suggested that

the degree certain in a

fan could be reset
regardless
of
the
temperature has been
set by the developer.

OThus, the fans can consume

unnecessary
power
in
unoccupied rooms.
O Another problem occurs when
newly arriving occupants to
new rooms and/or to darkened
rooms have to search for hard
to find wall toggle switches
and/or overhanging chains to
turn on the fans.
