Learning Objectives
To learn the basic laws of physics in

mechanics;
To be able to apply these laws in various
physical situations (problem-solving);
To prepare the students for more advanced
modules in Physics and other Sciences;
To think critically, ask the right questions, and
articulate ideas clearly (discussions, tutorials);
To make the transition from JC/high school
learning to college learning.

Grade-free First Semester

Up to Five modules can be opted for a

Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) grading.

Grade C and above
S
Grade D+ and below
U
You have three days to decide whether you
want to exercise the option.
Your decision is irrevocable.
S/U modules will not be counted towards your
individual Cumulative Average Point (CAP).
Ex: U+U+U+U+A=perfect CAP

S/U Options
Eligibility: level 1000 or 2000 modules

without NUS prerequisite

For example: PC1141 (prerequisites: 'A' level or

H2 pass in Physics or PC1221 & PC1222) is

eligible.
But LAF2201: French 2 (prerequisites: LAF1201
or placement test) is not.

Additional Three modules can be S/Ued in

your entire candidature.

Change: S+U modules

MA1505 & MA1506 vs. MA1102R & MA1101R
