OBJECTIVES & PURPOSE

To find the physical ergonomic stressors in
apparel industry relating to the labor force
In cutting & stitching how it effect the efficiency
and productivity
To understand the problems and prospects of
apparel industry in the context of physical
ergonomic stressors.
To provide opportunities to the labor force in the
area for capacity building and improving their
employment potential
How ergonomics effect in the productivity and
enhance safety.

To increase productivity of an individual by

providing appropriate ergonomic conditions
To analysis and understand several factors those
are responsible of initiating work place fatigue
and other musculoskeletal disorders caused by
unhealthy and unsafe working conditions
Achieve an appropriate work place environment
at the same time reducing hazards of injuries
caused by repetitive motions and unergonomical
working environment

WHAT IS ERGONOMICS?

OSHA defines ergonomics as the

science of

designing the job to fit the worker,

instead of forcing the worker to fit the
job.

DEFINITION OF ERGONOMICS

In Ergonomics, we study jobs to identify elements

that create discomfort over time (ergonomic
stressors) and find ways to eliminate them (work
strategy controls). Ergonomics is concerned with
adapting the workplace to meet the physical
capabilities of the worker.

ERGONOMIC STRESSORS

Ergonomic stressors are parts of a job that can

cause discomfort or even injury if the worker is
exposed for long periods of time.
Type of stressors:
Repetition
Force

Posture

Environment

RATIONALE
Identify and describe the possible ergonomic
deficiencies in cutting and stitching unit of
apparel manufacturing.
Also come to know the perception of workload
and body discomfort.
Policies could be developed and preventative
measure taken to combat many of the
musculoskeletal problem in apparel unit

METHODOLOGY
Mixed method
Helps increasing the validity of finding
Better data collection
Greater understanding of our finding

RESULTS

The scale of use of human resources in small,

medium scale in labor intensive industries is
enormous. In this situation it must be obvious
that very small improvement in working
conditions implements tool design or working
methods can lead to large benefits.

OUTCOMES
Recomending an ideal work environment
following all the necessary human factors
resulting increase in the productivity.
Providing the recommended work place
environment will result in increasing the
efficiency of the workers and overall productivity
of the company in the long term sequence.
