Germination Definition
Germination is the process when a seed begins to sprout after the
correct amounts of water, heat and correct location are met for
that particular plant

Germination Information
During the early stages of germination, seedlings rely on food stored within
the seed until leaves can make food, a process called photosynthesis
A seed has three main parts: seed coat, embryo and the food storage area
Seedling roots anchor down in the soil and to absorb water and minerals found
within the soil
Stems with new leaves push up toward light
Germination ends when the shoot emerges from the soil
The plant will then continue to grow with the correct amounts of water,
nutrients, and light for warmth

Plant Layering
Plant layering is when the stem is still attached to the parent plant that may
form roots where they touch a rooting medium.
When the severed part of the plant is touching rooting medium, them rooted
stem becomes the new plant

Grafting Definition
Grafting and budding are methods of asexual plant propagation that join plant
parts so they will grow as one plant.
Grafting Information:
These techniques are used to propagate cultivars that will not root well as
cuttings or whose own root systems are inadequate.
One or more new cultivars can be added to existing fruit and nut trees by
grafting or budding.
Four conditions must be met for grafting to be successful: the scion and
rootstock must be compatible; each must be at the proper physiological
stage; the cambial layers of the scion and stock must meet; and the graft
union must be kept moist until the wound has healed.
