Description of the
Learners
1. The learners are 1st graders learning about
Oceanography
2. For this specific lesson, they are learning
about the Bottlenose Dolphin
3. Age Range: 6-7 years old
4. They have learned about basic ocean life and
words such as, predator prey and population

Learning Objectives

1. Without help from the teacher, the


students will able to select the
Bottlenose Dolphins predators from a
group of photos, in under three
minutes.

1. The learners will be sitting in


front of computers, individually,
without the direct assistance of
the teacher.

2. In an open text box, the students will be


able to recall two facts from the family
option, within five minutes.

2. They can only ask questions


regarding possible vocabulary
words that they dont know or
dont remember.

3. On a page with pictures of fish that were


dumped back into sea, the students will
be able to click on the fish that the
Bottlenose Dolphin would eat, in under
5 minutes.

Why are they so

These sharks can swim up to 15


miles per hour in seconds! (They
can catch me too fast!)
The Great White is very sneaky!
They usually sneak up on us and
try to EAT us!

NETTING
Netting is when
fishermen throw big
nets into the water in
order to catch fish for
food. Sometimes my
family members and I
get caught into the
nets and it hurts us!

BOTTOM TRAWLING
This is another version of
netting. Bottom Trawling is
when the fishermen put a large
net with heavy weights
attached to it, on the bottom of
the ocean, and drag it,
catching everything in its path!
It doesnt always want to catch
my family and I, but
sometimes it does!

Why are they scary?

We have similar sounds to the Killer Whale,


therefore they know when we are close to
them! Then they can attack!

The killer whale is one of the biggest predators


in the ocean because of their speed and their
LARGE size
