What Is Virtual Keyboard?

A virtual keyboard is actually a Key-in device, roughly a size of
fountain
pen which uses highly advanced LASER
TECHNOLOGY to project fully sized keyboard onto a flat surface.
Virtual Keyboard (VKB) is the only keyboard that operates in total
darkness and emulates the function of standard fully-sized keyboard.

NEED OF VIRTUAL KEYBOARD

Since their invention, computers are being
produced in number of small versions from being
a 'space saver' to 'as tiny as your palm'. Disks and
components grew smaller in size, but one
component still remained the same for decades it's the keyboard.

The new innovation Virtual Keyboard uses

advanced technologies to project a full-sized
computing key-board to any surface.

FEATURES
1.) Light-weight, small-size, L-ion rechargeable battery.
Power-save
mode, audible click feature
2.) Power: lithium-ion rechargeable battery w/ac adapter
3.) Compatibility List: Windows 98, 2000, XP, Palm OS
4.) Projector: Light source - Red diode laser
5.) Keyboard layout - 63 key / full sized QWERTY layout
6.) Keyboard size: 275 x 90mm projected keyboard
7.) Surface: Non- reflective, opaque flat surface.

WORKING
Technology Used:
The VKB uses both INFRARED AND LASER TECHNOLOGY to generate and project
a full-size virtual QWERTY keyboard on any flat surface.
VKB emits two beams:
First is the LASER BEAM, used to project virtual keyboard image onto level surface.
2) Second is the INVISIBLE INFRARED BEAM,
projected above the virtual keyboard.

USES OF VIRTUAL KEYBOARD

BY PROFESSIONALS:1.) To compose a memo to employees while traveling to work on the train
2.) To do everyday work at your desk without taking up so much valuable
space.

BY STUDENTS:1.) To work on a paper while in the library.

2.) To do homework while you are on break at work.

ADVANTAGES
1.) Portability
2.) Accuracy
3.) Speed of text entry
4.) Lack of need for flat or large
typing surface
5.) Ability to minimize the risk for
repetitive strain injuries
6.) Flexibility

DISADVANTAGES
1.) Consumes more power
2.) Only for simple word processor stuff
3.) Expensive
4.) Annoying for eyes

APPLICATIONS
1.) Personal Digital Assistants (PDA's)
2.) Cellular Telephones, Laptops (MAC compatible)
3.) Tablet PCs
4.) Space saving Computers

CONCLUSION
Despite of the advantages, its
disadvantages cannot be neglected.
Studying the limitations and correcting
them, this technology can reach greater
heights.

With the advancement in science and

laser beam technology, this technology
seems to be very effective in future and
can replace ordinary keyboards in nearby future.
