HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL TILES CLEANER

This project deals with the designing and
fabrication of Horizontal and vertical tiles
cleaner. The aim of this project work is to develop
and modernized process for cleaning the tiles with
wet and dry. It is very useful for cleaning the tiles. It
can be used wet and dry; hence it is widely used in
houses, hospitals, auditorium, shops, computer
centers, etc. In modern days interior decorations
are becoming an important role in our life. Cleaning
of tiles is a very important one for our health and
reduces the man power requirement. Hence our
project is very useful in our day to day life

INTRODUCTION
Tiles cleaner is very much useful in cleaning tiles in hospitals,
houses, auditorium, shops, computer centers etc; it is very simple
in construction and easy to operate. Anybody can operate this
machine easily. It consist of moisture cotton brush, the brush
cleans the tiles and dried with aid of small blower. Hence it is very
useful in hospitals, houses, etc. The time taken for cleaning is very
less and the cost is also very less. Maintenance cost is less. Much
type of machines is widely used for this purpose. But they are
working under different principles and the cost is also very high.

In our project is very simple drive mechanism and easy to

operate any persons. The size of the machine is also portable, so
we can transfer from one place to other place very easily. The tiles
cleaner is simple, modern house holding device; even children can
also operate it easily with safety. It is very important one for each
and every houses and hospitals etc.

WORKING PRINCIPLE
The cleaning liquid is mixed in proper proportion and it is
poured into the reservoir through the top way. In our project
there are two axis tiles cleaning operation (vertical and
horizontal) are used. The vertical and horizontal brush gets
drive from motor through crank and lever mechanism . The
brush applies pressure on the tiles, when the adjuster rod is
unscrewed and the handle is moved in the required direction to
clean the sufficient area. This process is repeated, so a tile is
cleaned well. The brush prevents the damages on the mosaic,
marble tiles and gives smooth surface finish and shining.

FRAME
1. Material for frame used is mild steel
square pipe
2. Dimensions of frame : 18x24 inches
3. Frame work done using arc welding
4. Wheels is attached to the frame
(tach welding)
5. Two motors is welded to the frame

Motor
1. DC motors can operate directly from
rechargeable batteries, providing the motive
power for the crank and lever mechanism
2. Motor specs was decided by trial and error
method
3. Motor specs : 200 rpm , 75 watts
4. Two motors are used for horizontal and
vertical cleaning
5. Motors are welded to the bottom and side of
the frame

Battery and Brush

1. Material used for brush is nylon.
2. Diameter of brush is six inches.
3. Capacity of battery used is 12 V.
4. Two Rechargeable batteries are used
for power transmission.

Mechanism
1. Crank and lever mechanism is used
for horizontal and vertical cleaning
2. Two Levers are attached to the
crank of the motors
3. Brush is attached to one end of the
lever using nut and bolt
4. Cleaning process will be like wiper
movement used to vehicles.

Process
1. 12 V rechargable battery is used to
suppy power to the motor
2. Motor runs to operate crank and
lever mechanism
3. Brush attached to lever moves
horizontally and vertically

ADVANTAGES
Manual effort is reduced.
Operating time is less.
Cleaning and polishing can be done at same time.
It consumes less cleaning liquid.
Power consumption is less.
Design is very simple.
It occupies less tiles area.
Maintenance cost less.
It can be used in various tiles.
Smoother operation.
By further modification the drive or movement can be made automatic.

LIMITATIONS
Vibrations will be produced when used on rough tiles or surfaces.
The washed surface has to be wiped out for thorough cleaning.
