The End Of The Plug?

Presented by:SATWINDER SINGH

What is it?
Based on electromagnetic induction (using

conductive materials in coils to create a magnetic

field)
Resonant Magnetic Coupling: when two objects
exchange energy through their varying or oscillating
magnetic fields. -Natural frequencies of the two
objects are approximately the same.

HOW WIRELESS POWER WORKS

1. Magnetic coil (Antenna A) is housed in a box and can be set in

wall or ceiling.
2. Antenna A, powered by mains, resonates at a specific frequency.
3. Electromagnetic waves transmitted through the air.
4. Second magnetic coil (Antenna B) fitted in laptop/TV etc
resonates at same frequency as first coil and absorbs energy.
5. Energy charges the device.

In Laypersons Terms
Wireless electricity is the transfer of power to a

device over the air.

It will allow devices to be powered or charged

(with the proper wireless attachments) without

being plugged into a wall outlet or docked in a
charging station.

How It Will Be Used

Wireless electricity can be used to power or

recharge:
Cell

Phones

TVs
Computers
Electric

Cars
Cordless Tools
Industrial Machinery
Medical Devices (pacemakers, etc.)
Military Devices (unmanned robots, planes)
Consumer Appliances
ANYTHING ELECTRIC!

Future Uses In Business

More Efficient Office Buildings/Factories
Entire office buildings will run on wireless
electricity
Employees computers, cell phones, printers will

all stay charged throughout the business day

Electric appliances will not have to be placed

around power outlets; running cords is no longer

a hassle

Current Uses
Wireless charging pads
Electric Toothbrushes:
Both of these techniques use small electric

fields to charge the devices.

Haier America Digital Products group has
already developed a HDTV that transmits
electricity and the HD signal, making the TV
completely wireless

Benefits
More Reliable/Less Costly

- Never run out of battery power in wireless zones

- Power transfers more efficiently than through
wires
More Convenient
- No more changing batteries
- No messy cords
Environmentally Friendly
- Reduces the use of disposable batteries
- Reduces energy loss

Cost?
Cost is still undetermined
What they say is there are no exotic materials

being used that would make it overly

expensive
Prices should be comparable to products
already out
