SWINE FLU

HOMOPATHY
INTRODUCTION
• Swine influenza (also called swine flu, hog flu, pig flu and sometimes, the swine)
is an infection by any one of several types of swine influenza virus.Swine
influenza virus (SIV) is any strain of the influenza family of viruses that is
endemic in pigs. as from 1918 to till now, the known SIV strains include influenza
Cand the subtypes of influenza A known as H1N1, H1N2, H3N1, H3N2, and H2N3
.
• Swine influenza virus is common throughout pig populations worldwide.
Transmission of the virus from pigs to humans is not common and does not always
lead to human influenza, often resulting only in the production of antibodies in the
blood. If transmission does cause human influenza, it is called zoonotic swine flu.
People with regular exposure to pigs are at increased risk of swine flu infection.
The meat of an infected animal poses no risk of infection when properly cooked.
• During the mid-20th century, identification of influenza subtypes became possible,
allowing accurate diagnosis of transmission to humans. Since then, only 50 such
transmissions have been confirmed. These strains of swine flu rarely pass from
human to human. Symptoms of zoonotic swine flu in humans are similar to those
of influenza and of influenza-like illness in general, namely chills, fever, sore throat
, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness and general discomfort
HISTROY
• Swine influenza was first proposed to be a disease related to human influenza during the 1918 flu
pandemic, when pigs became sick at the same time as humans. The first identification of an
influenza virus as a cause of disease in pigs occurred about ten years later, in 1930 For the
following 60 years, swine influenza strains were almost exclusively H1N1. Then, between 1997
and 2002, new strains of three different subtypes and five different genotypes emerged as causes of
influenza among pigs in North America. In 1997–1998, H3N2 strains emerged. These strains,
which include genes derived by reassortment from human, swine and avian viruses, have become a
major cause of swine influenza in North America. Reassortment between H1N1 and H3N2
produced H1N2. In 1999 in Canada, a strain of H4N6 crossed the species barrier from birds to
pigs, but was contained on a single farm.
• The H1N1 form of swine flu is one of the descendants of the strain that caused the
1918 flu pandemic. As well as persisting in pigs, the descendants of the 1918 virus have also
circulated in humans through the 20th century, contributing to the normal seasonal epidemics of
influenza. However, direct transmission from pigs to humans is rare, with only 12 cases in the U.S.
since 2005. Nevertheless, the retention of influenza strains in pigs after these strains have
disappeared from the human population might make pigs a reservoir where influenza viruses could
persist, later emerging to reinfect humans once human immunity to these strains has waned.
• Swine flu has been reported numerous times as a zoonosis in humans, usually with limited
distribution, rarely with a widespread distribution. Outbreaks in swine are common and cause
significant economic losses in industry, primarily by causing stunting and extended time to market.
For example, this disease costs the British meat industry about £65 million every yea

HOMOPATHY SWINE FLU
PREVENTATION

• For at least the past 125 years homeopathic practitioners have used the medicine Influenzinum as a flu
preventive. Influenzinum is a homeopathic medicine made from flu viruses. A proprietary preparation is
produced each year using the flu virus strains recommended by the World Health Organization for the
year’s vaccine production. The typical dosage is once per week for four weeks beginning in October or
later, followed by another dose three weeks later.
Between the years 1918 and 1957 the preparation of Influenzinum was derived from samples of blood or
nasal secretions taken from patients who contracted the flu during the deadly 1918 flu pandemic.
Subsequent to 1957 Influenzinum preparations come from a homeopathic preparation of the yearly flu
viruses chosen for the flu vaccine.
STEP TO TREATEMENT
• Step 1--Consult with a homeopathic doctor who can properly advise patients as to which
homeopathic remedies are best suited to their symptoms. However, because the flu can strike
without warning and administering homeopathic remedies at the first signs of swine flu
symptoms is key to their effectiveness, it would be a good idea to keep the follow remedies on
hand.
Step 2--Input symptoms into an online homeopathic remedy program to find the best remedy
for your symptoms in the absence of access to a homeopathic physician.
Step 3--Take Oscillococcinum which is a general homeopathic flu remedy available at some
drug stores and online (see Resources for link). Dosage is usually one dose at the first sign of
flu symptoms and then two more doses after that, spaced six hours apart. A dose is one full
tube of Oscillococcinum. Be sure to follow the directions on the package, as different
manufacturers may have different dosage requirements.
Step 4--Take Influenzinum which is a homeopathic remedy made from the same flu strain
used in flu vaccines. If the swine flu vaccine becomes scarce or you can’t get a swine flu
vaccine, Influenzinum is a good alternative. Since a swine flu vaccine won’t be available until
Fall, don’t buy Influenzinum until you’re able to confirm that it is made from the swine flu
virus. Influenzinum must be taken monthly during the flu season (October to March) in order
to be effective. The typical dose is 3 pills each month. It can be purchased in drug stores or
online.
• Step 5--Use Aconite for mild swine flu symptoms such as a runny nose.
Step 6--Take Baptista for flu symptoms that result in listlessness, muscle soreness, and
diarrhea.
Step 7--Take Arsenicum-album for flu symptoms that cause thirst, diarrhea, nausea, anxiety,
and restlessness.
Step 8--Use Ipecac for flu symptoms with more severe nausea, bone pain, and a lack of thirst.
Step 9--Take Eupatorium perf for flu symptoms marked by mild gastrointestinal distress, but
deep aches in the bones.
Step 10--Use Gelsemium for flu symptoms including dizziness, drowsiness, chills, and lack of
thirst. Gelsemium was the primary homeopathic remedy used during the 1918 flu epidemic.

EFFECT OF HOMOPATHY
• New Delhi, Aug 8 (IANS) Homeopathy can both prevent and cure swine flu, sans any side
effects, say doctors who practise this alternative medicine system in India where over 700
people have been diagnosed with the disease.
Amid panic over the spread of influenza A (H1N1) virus, homeopaths are now draft in
proposal for the health ministry to offer their services in tackling the crisis.
• “In Brazil, the homeopathic doctors’ community has collected data on the symptoms of swine
flu and homeopathic treatments for symptoms and are spreading the word on its effectiveness
through internet,” he added.
• Anwar Amir, secretary general of the homeopathy post graduate association in Maharashtra,
said he has written to the union health ministry and the state government’s health department
offering their services to deal with the swine flu crisis.
• More than 616 people have been detected with H1N1 virus so far in India, of which 487 have
been discharged. The disease has claimed one life in India.
• People however should not panic. The chances of dying of swine flu are just as low as dying
of common flu, homeopathic doctors said unanimously.
• Giving an example of the effectiveness of homeopathy in an epidemic in India, Batra said
when Japanese encephalitis hit Andhra Pradesh 10 years ago, the government distributed one
million doses of Belladonna, a homeopathic drug, to children.
• “No child was affected by Japanese encephalitis after that. Therefore, homeopathy can provide
an effective and inexpensive preventive measure and cure for swine flu too,” Batra sai
