1. LIGHT LOAD ENDURANCE TEST :


Throughout the test , the battery
shall be placed in a water bath at
41 C. Connect the endurance test
equipment and repeat the
discharging and charging cycles.
DISCHARGING : Discharging
current 25 A for 240 s
CHARGING : Charging voltage 14.8
V , current limit 25 A for 600 s.
During the test the battery is left
for 56 h at every 480 cycles and
then discharged at cold cranking
current for 30 s and voltage is
noted.
The end of test shall be the timing
when the voltage after 30s
becomes 7.2 V or under.

ENCLOSED BATTERY :
CORROSION TEST :
The battery is kept in a water bath
during the test at a temperature of
60c . The battery is charged for
13 days with a constant voltage of
14 v . The battery must be kept in
open circuit for 13 more days. The
battery is cooled down to 25c.
The above cycles has to be
repeated and ended if the battery
voltage reaches 6V in less than
30s with a current of 0.6 Icc.
CYCLIC TEST :
The batteries are kept at a
temperature of 25C . The
batteries must be connected to a
testing position and subjected to a
series of 180 cycles , (ie)
discharging for 1 hr with current =

2. HEAVY LOAD ENDURANCE


TEST :
Throughout the test , the battery
shall be placed in a water bath at
41 C. Connect the endurance test
equipment and repeat the
discharging and charging cycles.
DISCHARGING : for 1 hr with
current of 20A ( 48 Ah or over upto
72 Ah) and with current of 40A
(72Ah to 176Ah)
CHARGING : for 5 hr with current
5A ( 48Ah or over upto 72 Ah) and
with current of 10A (72Ah to
176Ah).
The battery is discharged
successively at every 25 cycles
untill the terminal voltage of
battery falls to 10.2 V. After this
the battery is charged.

The batteries are kept a
temperature of 25C . The
batteries must be connected to a
testing position and subjected to a
series of 36 cycles , (ie)
discharging for 1 hr with current =
5In followed by charging for 3 hr
with constant voltage of 14.8V.
The battery must be charged for
12h at 25 C . The battery is
stored in open circuit for 8hr. The
entire process must be repeated
four times. The battery is then
kept in a cooling chamber at a
temperature of -18C. Then
the battery is discharged at a
current of 0.6 I cc. The voltage at
the terminals must be measured

WATER CONSUMPTION TEST

and dried and weighed (W 1). The
battery is placed in a water bath
at a temperature of 40C. The
battery is charged with voltage of
14.4 V for a period of 500h.
Immediately after this
