LISTENING &

SPEAKING

The first module in the KSSR


syllabus.
It is acceptable to present the skills
by joining them together, but
teachers can control more on the
reading and writing activities.
Although teachers have prepared the
listening materials, students are
ignored the speaking skill.

LISTENING RESOURCES:
Digital and video files can be played
repeatedly to the children.
Activities that are designed for
before, during and after listening will
help children to concentrate and
learn something new each time they
listen.
Teacher can also use podcasts and
videos as long as they watched to
the teacher first.

SPEAKING RESOURCES
Try to get the children speak such as
singing through microphone.
Ask children to retell a story that has
been told in an engaging way.
Let children get puppets to speak
for them
Ask them to act a character
Show a video clip or animation
without sound and ask them to be
the sound

Learn dialogues, language arts and


jazz chants
Use games, charts and rewards as
their motivation
Gives pictures and ask them to talk
about it
Ask children to speak about a

Reading Skill

Reading Skills
In order to learn to read, children need to
practise reading.
In order to practise reading, children need to
have materials available to read.
Of course, if the reading material is not
appealing, they will not read it.

1. What are the children going to read?


The pupils will read all the sign that the see around their
school.

2. What is a Reading Corner? Have you ever seen


one?
Reading corner is the corner where we can found variety
types of books and we can also sit there to read the
books that we chose.

3. How will the children know the meaning of the


word raise?
By reading and understanding the reading texts given.

4. What signs are the children likely to find if they


go for a walk around the school?
Keep silence in the library, do not throw rubbish
everywhere, please queue up when buying foods in the
canteen.

5. How can children record the signs they see?


By reading the meaning of those sign that have been
pasted around the school.

8. Will you set up a Reading Corner in your


classroom? (What problems could there be? How
could
you do it?)
Yes because it will gives a lot of benefits to the teacher
and the pupils. There might be a few problems that we
could faced which are lack of books supply and also lack
of space in the classroom.

9. What materials and activities could you use to


reinforce the teaching from this lesson?
Teacher can prepare quizes for the students to answer
based on the book that they can find in their classroom
reading corner. Treasure hunt activities can be done
where the students need to search for the books and
write the answers. Apart from heaving fun, the pupils can
also improve their scheming and scanning skills.

Writing skills which is completing the fill in the blank with
the correct answers by referring to the pictures given.
2. Where will the children write their paragraph?
The pupils will write their answers in their writing books.
3. Can you think of a creative way (in light of
previous reading in this subject) for the children to
complete this activity?
Teacher can prepare another task sheets that are almost
the same with the worksheets given but make sure that
the blank in the paragraph do not have any pictures.

Maybe for the advance students, for the extension activity teacher
can asks them to write the function of all the places that they have
visit.

We can teach the preposition about the way to go to all the places.

LANGUAGE ARTS

1)-The chant use simple words


- the chant is really good for the students

2)- divide the students into three groups.


- one group will get one stanza of the chant
- the teacher asks the students to make the
actions while singing the chant.
- the teacher shows on how to make the
actions first before asking the students to do
so.
- then, each of the groups need to perform in
front of the class.

4) - story based on the chant:


Kamil, Adam and Hanif are good friends.
They like to do anything that they like
together. One day, Hanif feels very sad. He
likes to sit alone and does not want to talk.
Adam and Kamil are very worried. Then, they
tries to advise Hanif. They want Hanif to
control his feeling. They ask Hanif to be happy
and do not worry so much about the problem.
He must not frown. He should be happy.

- the teacher asks the students to sit in
their groups.

:angry, sad , confuse
- the teacher tes the students that they
need to design the mask based on the mood
that their group get.

5) MY SCHOOL
I am a student in the Model School. It is
situated near our house. Every morning my elder
brother escorts me to the school. He comes again
to pick me up in the afternoon.
I like my school very much. The teachers are
good and helpful. They teach us many new things
every day. My classmates are also good. I have
three intimate friends in my class. They are
Ramen, Peter and Suleman.
Our school is surrounded by a green lawn. There
is a small park at the back. During the recess, the
children go there to play. The school compound is
large.
