APPROACHES FOLLOWED
DEFINE PHASE
WHY?
A DROP IN TYRE PRESSURE MAY CAUSE REDUCTIONS IN :
1. TYRE LIFE
2. SAFETY
3. VEHICLE PERFORMANCE
HOW?
KEEPING IN MIND THE FOLLOWING ABOVE PROBLEMS WE ARE
DESIGNING A SELF INFLATION TYRE SYSTEM IN WHICH WE
WILL SUPPLY COMPRESSED AIR TO THE WHEELS DIRECTLY
USING THE PNEUMATICS CIRCUIT FROM A MAIN AIR TANK .
MEASURE PHASE
>
>
>
>
Area x Stroke x A x Cf
Time x 29
TO ACCOUNT FOR VARIOUS PRESSURE LOSSES WE HAVE TO OVERSIZE THE VALVE BY 25%.
CF IS COMPRESSION FACTOR.
STROKE = CYLINDER TRAVEL.
A = PRESSURE DROP COSTANT
ANALYSIS PHASE
TEMPRATURE AND PRESSURE OF TIRES
PRESSURE
Vehicles
27-32 psi
45-60 psi
TEMPRATURE
When the tires roll along the road ,friction between them and
road
generates heat.
Ambient Temperature

-4.5 psi
-8.4 psi
-070 C
-3.3 psi
-6.2 psi

-2.1 psi
-3.9 psi

-0.9 psi
-1.7 psi

2.8 psi
CONCLUSION :
According to the above analysis
part , we will design this tyre self
inflation model practicing it at
NTP(Normal temperature & pressure)
or at surrounding conditions, using a
cycle tyre to inflate it at 30 psi
( +5%psi ),using the above predicted
model or if there will be changes
made in the design phase of our
approach , we will cope up with that .
