FIRST LOVE based from the Bible

1 John 4:7-12
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love
comes from God. Everyone who loves has been
born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not
love does not know God, because God is love. 9
This is how God showed his love among us: He
sent his one and only Son into the world that we
might live through him. 10 This is love: not that
we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his
Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear
friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to
love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God;
but if we love one another, God lives in us and
his love is made complete in us.

1 John 4:13-16
13 We know that we live in him and he in us,
because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we
have seen and testify that the Father has sent his
Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone
acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God
lives in him and he in God. 16 And so we know
and rely on the love God has for us.

1 John 4:16-18
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God,
and God in him. 17 In this way, love is made
complete among us so that we will have
confidence on the day of judgment, because in
this world we are like him. 18 There is no fear in
love. But perfect love drives out fear, because
fear has to do with punishment. The one who
fears is not made perfect in love.

19 We love because he first loved us. 20 If
anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother,
he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his
brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God,

this command: Whoever loves God must also

Question: Why God?

Titus 3:3-8
3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient,
deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions
and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being
hated and hating one another. 4 But when the
kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5
he saved us, not because of righteous things we
had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us
through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the
Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us
generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so
that, having been justified by his grace, we might
become heirs having the hope of eternal life

14 We know that we have passed from
death to life, because we love our brothers.
Anyone who does not love remains in death.

whom we have now received reconciliation.

world of sin.

Rom 8:12-17
12 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation-but it is
not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13 For

by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did
not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to
fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by
him we cry, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit himself
testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17
Now if we are children, then we are heirs-heirs of God
and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his
sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Without Gods love, we are still in sin,


living in fear, ignorance and slavery, and
ultimately we will die in sin and will be
punished eternally in hell.

Why choose God as my first love?

1. Because God enabled you to love


2. Because God loved us first
3. Because God loved us so much He is
willing to die for us
4. Because God loved us so much He has
secured our today and our future

Rev 2:1-4
To the angel of the church in Ephesus
write:
These are the words of him who holds the
seven stars in his right hand and walks
among the seven golden lampstands: 2 I
know your deeds, your hard work and your
perseverance. I know that you cannot
tolerate wicked men, that you have tested
those who claim to be apostles but are not,
and have found them false. 3 You have
persevered and have endured hardships for
my name, and have not grown weary.
4 Yet I hold this against you: You have
forsaken your first love .

How then shall I love God first?


1. Receive Jesus as Lord and Savior
2. Love God as you ought to
By loving one another
It has to be true and tangible

By obeying/keeping His commands


Put Him first over everything else at all
times!!!

3. Keep that love for God burning!


Preach to yourself the Gospel daily
Share the Gospel at every opportunity

Eph 3:14-21
14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from
whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its
name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may
strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner
being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through
faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in
love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to
grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of
Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses
knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all
the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than
all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at
work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in
Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and
ever! Amen.
