Goodness

God is “good.”
1.The perfections of His
character.
2.The absolute
appropriateness of His
acts.
God is
summum bonum

The highest good!

Jeremiah 32:41
Yes, I
will rejoice over
them to do them
good, and I will assuredly
plant them in this land, with
all My heart and with all My
soul.
Deuteronomy 26:11
And you shall rejoice in all
the good that the
LORD your God has given
to you and to your house.
2 Chronicles 7:3
… they bowed down with
their faces to the ground on
the pavement and worshiped
and gave thanks to the
LORD, saying, "For He is
good, for His steadfast love
endures forever."
Psalm 34:8
Oh, taste and see that the
LORD is good!
Blessed is the man who
takes refuge in Him!
Psalm 100:5
For the LORD is good;
His steadfast love endures
forever, and His faithfulness
to all generations.
Psalm 119:68
are good and
You
do good; teach me
your statutes.
Psalm 145:9
The LORD is good to
all, and His mercy is over
all that He has made.
Zechariah 9:16-17
On that day the LORD their
God will save them, as the
flock of His people; for like
the jewels of a crown they
shall shine on His land. For
how great is His goodness,
and how great His beauty!
Lamentations 3:24-25
“The Lord is my portion,”
says my soul, “Therefore I
hope in Him!” The Lord
is good to those who wait
for Him, To the soul who
seeks Him.
Deuteronomy 6:10-12
And when the LORD your
God brings you into the land
that he swore to your fathers,
to Abraham, to Isaac, and to
Jacob, to give you - with
great and good cities that you
did not build, and houses full
Deuteronomy 6:10-12
of all good things that you did
not fill, and cisterns that you
did not dig, and vineyards
and olive trees that you did
not plant - and when you eat
and are full, then take care
lest you forget the LORD.
God’s goodness is
not always
experienced as what
we might think to be
“good.”
Psalm 119:71 (NLT)
The suffering you sent was
good for me, for it
taught me to pay attention to
your principles.
Romans 8:28 (The Message)
That's why we can be so
sure that every detail in our
lives of love for God is
worked into
something good.
1 Corinthians 10:15-
18
I assume I'm addressing
believers now who are mature.
Draw your own conclusions:
When we drink the cup of
blessing, aren't we taking into
ourselves the blood, the very
1 Corinthians 10:15-
18
the same with the loaf of bread
we break and eat? Don't we
take into ourselves the body,
the very life, of Christ? Because
there is one loaf, our many-
ness becomes one-ness —
1 Corinthians 10:15-
18
Christ doesn't become
fragmented in us. Rather, we
become unified in Him. We
don't reduce Christ to what we
are; He raises us to what He is.
