About Jharkhand
Jharkhand State was formed on November 15, 2000 and
It is the 28th State of India
The dynamics of resources and the politics of
development still influence the socio-economic structures
in Jharkhand
According to the 1991 census, the state has a population
of over 20 million out of which 28% is tribal while 12% of
the people belong to scheduled castes
Jharkhand has 24 districts, 260 blocks and 32,620
villages out of which only 45% are electrified while only
8,484 are connected by roads.
Jharkhand is the leading producer of mineral wealth in
the country after Chhattisgarh state.

Political Analysis
9th Government since its inception 13 years
ago.
Jharkhand have many parties politics like
national and regional e.g., INC, AAP, BJP,
JMM, JVM, AJSU, RJD, JD(U), CPI(M),etc. are
the major party.
Jharkhand have currently 14 MPs and 81
MLA
Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren and
Governor Syed Ahmed.

The State has already seen eight


Governments and four Chief
Ministers
1.Babulal Marandi (November 2000
to March 2003) (JVM)
2. Arjun Munda (2003/2005/2010),
(BJP)
3. Shibu Soren (2005/2008/2009)
(JMM) and
4. Madhu Koda (2006)
(INDEPENDENT) since it attained

2009:
Dec 23, 2009: 2nd Assembly polls throw fractured mandate
Dec 25: JMM chief Shibu Soren stakes claim
Dec 27: Governor invites Soren to form Government
Dec 30: Soren sworn-in as 7th CM

Jan 7: Trust Vote
April 27: Soren votes along with UPA in cut motion in LS
April 28: BJP Parliamentary board decides to withdraw support. JMM apologises
for Sorens mistake
April 29: BJP puts its withdrawal decision on hold
May 18: Arjun Munda and Soren agree to share power on rotationMay 20: Soren
retracts on voting along with UPA
May 24: BJP withdraws support to Soren
May 30: Soren quits
June 1: Imposition of Presidents rule
Sept 7: Arjun Munda stakes claim
Sept 9: Presidents rule revoked
Sept 11: Munda takes oath as 8th CM of Jharkhand

2012
In May: Soren revives power sharing formula with BJP
Dec 25: Deputy CM Hemant Soren services notice to Munda to clear
BJPs stand on rotation policy on power sharing.
Jan 3: Munda replies in writing to JMM that there was no agreement on
sharing power with it after 28 months.
Jan 7: JMM announces withdrawal of support to the BJP-led Government
Jan 8: Arjun Munda convenes Cabinet meeting, recommends dissolution
of house and submits resignation to the Governor.
Jan 8-13: JMM fails in stitching new alliance
Jan 14: Presidents rule recommended
Jan 18: Presidents rule imposedfor the third time.
July 09: JMM leader Hemant Soren stakes claim to form the Government
July 10: Governor Syed Ahmed recommends revocation of Presidents
Rule
July 11: Union Cabinet recommends revocation of Presidents rule.
July 12: Governor invites Hemant Soren for swearing-in ceremony after
receipt of communication about Presidential nod on revocation of
Central rule.
July 13: Hemant Soren sworn-in as CM.

Development
Jharkhand's gross state domestic product for 2013 is estimated
at $21.7 billion at current prices.
Jharkhand has a concentration of some of the countrys highly
industrialised cities such as Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Bokaro Steel
City, Dhanbad and Ramgarh.
Urbanization ratio is 24.1% and the per capita annual income
is US$ 726.8.
