How effective is the

combination of your main


product and ancillary
text?

Intention
We discovered when looking through all of our
audience research, that they wanted to see a
clear link between the music video and the
ancillary texts. We then therefore believed it
would be a good idea to show a clear link through
all three pieces of media.

Magazine Advert and


Video

In our magazine advert we used the


radio as our main image therefore we
have linked it into our advert. The
radio however has been altered so
the words BUSH that where on
there have been changed to E.L.O
the name of the band. The fact that
the song is titles Mr. Blue Sky has
been emphasized by the blue sky in
the background.
We have then added the extra
information in a BOLD font at the
bottom, this therefore stands out and
we have used two pictures as well
but in a smaller form.

Magazine Advert and Digipak


The same imagery has been used
throughout on the Advert and Digipak.
This has allowed us to become more
adventurous with our idea such as
flipping the front image and using it as
our back cover of our Digipak. The
centre of our digipak is a blown up
image of the centre dial of the radio,
and on the left hand side we have
picture frames with the members of
our cast, this therefore allows the
audience to see who is in the band.
There are also copyright details on the
digipak.

Digipak and Video


Our Music Video and Digipak
are very similar, they both have
the centre image as the radio,
and we have used the same
filter on both, this is so that we
can get the right look. The
radio appears throughout our
video, also each character that
appears in the music video has
been shown on the front cover,
this is so we are able to see
them more clearly and
therefore recognize them
throughout the video.

Effectiveness
The effectiveness of our music video and ancillary texts is
very important to the audience as it means they can relate to
them all as a whole. There is a very strong link between all
pieces of text which means that it is easy to market to an
audience.
The fact that a bright color scheme has been used means
that it will attract the attention of the audience more. The
picture on the album cover should be a direct clue as to what
the song is and therefore should sell that way, also the
characters create a good upbeat vibe so this should be
reflected through the color scheme.
Twitter and Facebook have been included on the advert as
little symbols this means that the song will get more hits
through these social media websites.
