Introduction
Clean

drinking water is essential as we

need to consume at least 2 litres of
water daily for basic survival.
As
the
human
population
and
advancement in modern technology
growth exponentially, the risks for water
contamination increases.
Limited supply for us to get the clean
drinking water supply. Decided to do a
survey on contamination of drinking
water to study the sources of drinking
water and the level of contamination.

Problem Statement:
An adequate supply of safe drinking water is one
of the major prerequisites for a healthy life, but
consumers even did not realise that the sources
of their drinking water have been contaminated
by different contaminants.

Objectives:
- To gain knowledge, study and provide solutions
to the contaminations of water supply.
- To create awareness towards importance of
clean drinking water supply among university
students.

Pollution

-Industry and human dwellings are

also a source of potential
contaminants.
-Most common contaminants are
heavy metals, and solvents, such
as tri and tetrachloroethene.

Solutions
1. Make sure the water treatment
process is thorough
2. In agriculture industry:
- Modify the existing tilling method and
have better runoff control
- Animal farms should have a better
management

3. Underground storage tank should be

double lined
4. Authorities: monitor the water supply
system

5. Replace filtration system

Monitoring Drinking Water

Verify that the quality of water meets
the standards
Ensure sufficient supply of water
Know the source of water
Keep any source of drinking water
isolated from human activities and
garbage

Treating Drinking Water

Quality of water and human health
Type of treatment depends on :
1. Quality of the original source of water
2. The number of people to whom the water
will be served
3. The point of origin for the water

Methods used to treat drinking water:

1.
2.
3.
4.

Flocculation
Sedimentation
Filtration
Disinfection

Conclusion
Water is essential for life.
Treatment methods:
-Improve the quality of drinking water
-Ensure our drinking water is free from
various contaminants
