Reformado, Juan Paolo

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
There are different types of cancer, specific cancer given

the early symptoms of a patient is still very hard to point

out manually.
The system that we proposed will be able to gather all the

specific data, the symptoms and such, to which will be

able to help out in specifying what kind of cancer does the
patient have.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Not only does this help in figuring out if they have cancer

but also it allows them to know in advance without the risk

of losing precious time by finding it out manually.
This System focuses on getting specific data which will be

used for the operation of the system. This system will

benefit people who are concerned with their current health
and lifestyle.

CHAPTER 1: STATEMENT OF THE

PROBLEM
The study intends to determine the different ways of improving

the data transmission of hospitals with regards to records

concerning different discovered types of cancers.
Once the study is completed, it is expected that the following

problems will be answered:

1. What are the different methods of data compression? How
important is it to data transactions in hospitals?
2. What are the improvements will data compression for
communicating information offer?

CHAPTER 1: STATEMENT OF THE

PROBLEM
3. How can the study improve the management and

information interchange of different hospitals with regards

to cancer database?

4. How can the study help doctors, nurses and other

hospital staffs? How is it beneficial to the cancer patients?

CHAPTER 1: SCOPES AND

LIMITATIONS
The scopes of the study about Cancer are the following:

Signs and Symptoms, Causes, Diagnosis, Prevention,

Screening, Management, and Research.
The research is intended to produce a database system

for the different kinds of Cancer to speed up diagnosis

and treatment. Gathering information for the database
regarding the disease would be done in hospitals which
had dealt with the disease.

CHAPTER 1: SIGNIFICANCE OF THE

STUDY
This study will improve the way Cancer can be diagnosed,

prevented, and treated. The system will have the different

types of the disease stored on the database, the
symptoms, causes, treatment, and prevention.
With this new tool, the process of diagnosing and testing

the patient will be faster; giving the patient time for

treatment and make recovery possible.

CHAPTER 2: REVIEW OF RELATED

LITERATURES
Main topics of chapter 2
What is Cancer?
Cancer through out the world
State of Philippine hospitals resources regarding Cancer
Data Compression

CHAPTER 2: REVIEW OF RELATED

LITERATURES
Cancer is a type of disease with an improbable cure.
The statement one cure for all types of cancer is unlikely

to exist because of the complexity of the disease.

Cure and treatment contributes to the problem.
The death rate of this disease has a slight dramatic

change over the last decades. Rare cases of cancers still

lack information regarding its nature and also its cure.

CHAPTER 2: REVIEW OF RELATED

LITERATURES
Information is one of the most important aspects of

treating cancer.
If a person is early informed of the different effective

hospitals, treatment teams, and effective treatment and

cure for their cancer in an early stage, we may assume
that treatment is evitable.
The effect of lacking information and awareness to both

patients and hospitals may ultimately lead to death due to

cancer.

CHAPTER 2: REVIEW OF RELATED

LITERATURES
Data transfer plays an important role in the world of

technology.
The usual aim or goal of technicians is to transfer data

with the best effective way.

They aim to minimize the memory it takes to transfer in

every possible way just to save a pint of memory.

CHAPTER 2: SYNTHESIS OF THE ART

In first-world countries, information about cancer, for

hospitals and also for patients is very flexible.

Even though with the resources they already have is enough, the

death toll, although decreases in few numbers, is still high enough.

Imagine how much more dreadful cancer offers to third-

world countries.
In third-world countries, it is considered to be a cause of

death rather than something treatable.

CHAPTER 2: SYNTHESIS OF THE ART

In laymans term, it is the process or reducing the amount

of information needed for storage space or data

transferring of a file.
Imagine a 50 year old hospital with records of each and

every patient they deal with.

They should have a database of their own which surely is very

huge. If they were in need of transferring these data, how long will it
take for them to finish?

CHAPTER 2: GAPS TO BE BRIDGED

The current ways of diagnosing and screening a patient

are physical examination, urine tests, blood tests, and

medical imaging.
These however are expensive and consume a lot of time to get the

results.
The results are sometimes inaccurate because of the lack of

information on the type of cancer, the tests done, and the

equipment

CHAPTER 2: GAPS TO BE BRIDGED

With the implementation of our system, the retrieval of the

test results would be faster .

This is because of the information stored on the system.

Where in the data gathered on the tests would then be

compared to the data stored in the system
Which in turn would produce an accurate result and faster

confirmation.

CHAPTER 2: CONCEPTUAL
FRAMEWORK
The idea is to provide people the technology to know if

they have a certain type of cancer that is beginning to

threaten their bodies and by which gives them the great
opportunity to act on it immediately.
This will allow people to have an advantage over time for

which their greatest battle is time.

CHAPTER 2: CONCEPTUAL
FRAMEWORK
The system will also include the following:
Records of inspirational stories of cancer survivors.
Sets of Cancer Types with the corresponding recommended
hospitals by patients.
Sets recommendation from other patients diagnosed with the same
cancer type.
The corresponding expenses the patients should expect from
specific hospitals.
These will ultimately serve as an inspiration not only to

the patients but also to their families.

CHAPTER 2: CONCEPTUAL
FRAMEWORK
This type of system would also include a type of database

by which it stores all the data that is needed for the

system to work.
It would maintain history of the data for archive purposes.

Security will be assured with this kind of database.

CHAPTER 2: CONCEPTUAL
FRAMEWORK
This may be applied to hospitals, and other medical

facilities to help them in attaining the best service that

they can give to their patients.
This implementation of this system would be another step

to engage our country in discovering new things, new

technologies which would be helpful to the people.

METHODOLOGY
In this chapter, the researchers will discuss the

software development process, specifically the

Waterfall Development Approach. The Waterfall
Development Approach consists of four parts
Requirements and analysis, design, code, test,
implement, and maintain.

METHODOLOGY
Waterfall Development Approach

METHODOLOGY
The Waterfall development approach is one of the

methods of the System Development Life Cycle

(SDLC).
This approach is well structured and it is easier to
measure progress by reference through clearly
defined milestones.

METHODOLOGY
The total cost of the project can be accurately

estimated after the requirements have been defined.

The advantage of the waterfall development is that it
allows managerial control.

METHODOLOGY
A schedule can be set with deadlines for each stage

of development and a product can proceed through

the development process.
Development moves from requirements and
analysis, through design, code, test, implementation,
and ends up at operation and maintenance

REQUIREMENTS ANALYSIS
Functional Requirements
The system would require computers with good

specifications on memory and also capable of

internet connection. This would allow the proposed
to system to function properly and efficiently.

REQUIREMENTS ANALYSIS
Safety Requirements
The system will have patch updates from time to

time. These updates will provide new or modified

information for the database as well as fixing bugs in
the system.

DESIGN PHASE

DESIGN PHASE
The user is presented with a menu of four choices:

Search Symptoms, View Different types of Cancer,

View prevention methods and treatment, and Exit.
If the user chooses the Search Symptoms option,
he/she should first input his/her symptoms into the
fields required. If the user is done inputting the
symptoms, he/she will be presented with the closest
type of cancer matching the symptoms.

DESIGN PHASE
If the user chooses to view the Different types of

Cancer, the program will display a catalogue

containing the different types of Cancer; after which
the user can select and view a specific type of
Cancer.
If the user chooses to view the prevention methods
and treatment, the program will display a search bar
for the cancer to be prevented or treated. After that it
will display tips on preventing the cancer and
treatment methods (if available).

DESIGN PHASE
If the user chooses to exit, the program will put up a

confirmation form to confirm the users desire to

leave the database

CODING PHASE
For the software development rules and standards in

coding we will use the all-in-one code framework

coding standards of Microsoft. The principles are the
following:

CODING PHASE
Understandable - Samples must be clearly readable

and straightforward. They must showcase the key

things theyre designed to demonstrate.
Correct - Samples must demonstrate properly how to
perform the key things they are designed to teach.

CODING PHASE
Consistent -Samples should follow consistent coding

style and layout to make the code easier to read.

Modern - Samples should demonstrate current
practices such as use of Unicode, error handling,
defensive programming, and portability.

CODING PHASE
Safe - Samples must comply with legal, privacy, and

policy standards. They must not demonstrate hacks

or poor programming practices.
Secure - The samples should demonstrate how to
use secure programming practices such as least
privilege, secure versions of runtime library
functions.

IMPLEMENTATION
The project will be implemented to verify the

capabilities of the system. We will also determine if

the requirements of the project are met. Also, we will
use this phase to determine if there are existing bugs
and errors in the program.
A test team will perform checks and they are the one
to determine the limits of the program.

IMPLEMENTATION
The hospital must prepare for the hardware and

software requirements of the system before installing

the program. This will present better performance of
the program.
Users are also required to have a testing procedure
for better understanding and usage of the system.

IMPLEMENTATION
They are to fill out a form that we will require for

certain clarifications before proceeding to the

installation.
Following the installation, they employee may use
the program.

MAINTENANCE
Every software requires maintenance is always

present. It is a phase within the system design phase

that will always be present.
With the development approach we have decided to
use, we are to finish the program prepared to
changes and development. We are to expect certain
revisions in order to cope up with change.
