CONVEYORS

Conveyors are the most convenient equipments

for transport of aggregates and metal units like
plates and billets and ores and soils over
comparatively longer distances and when change
in elevations and directions are involved.

Because of continuous movement, at relatively
higher speeds, conveying capacities also will be
high

Depending on the materials to be conveyed and
the distances of conveyance, different types of
conveyors system have been developed.
ADVANTAGES

They can transport larger quantities
.Conveyance is possible on uphill grades of 30
.Comparatively silent and smooth.
The movement is reversible
.Low dust nuisance.

DISADVANTAGES

Wear and tear more rapid and hence need frequent inspection and maintenance of
belt as well as idlers.
The unit cannot be easily dismantled or shifted.
Satisfactory results depends on the correctness and care in alignment.

Different types of conveyors
roller conveyors
Belt conveyors
screw conveyors
shaker conveyors
chain conveyors

POWER REQUIREMENTS
The total power required will be the sum of the powers required for moving the empty
belt over idlers
to move the load horizontally
to lift or lower the load vertically
to compensate drive losses
to operate a tripper

THE ROLLER CONVEYORS:

These are series of rollers of
specified diameters and width,
which are kept under constant
revolutions.

Manufactured or cast items such
as pipes, rods, billets, huge quarry
stones or boulders and block
casting are made to slip on to
them and which get transported
over by the spindling rollers.

These are fit for items which do
not tend to slid side ways.

Roller conveyor is designed for Easy material transportation in
Distribution centers, warehouses, assembly lines, shipping, palletizing
systems, mail and parcel sorting centers, mail-order companies, etc.,

The conveyor belt system consists
of a continuous moving belt that
carries materials or packages from
one place to another.
This belting system is also used in
conveyor transport systems such
as moving sidewalks or escalators,
as well as on many manufacturing
assembly lines.
A conveyor belt or belt conveyor
consist of two end pulleys and is
usually suspended with a
continuous loop of material that
rotates about them.
The Conveyor belt systems are widely used in an array of material transport
applications such as manufacturing, food processing and heavy industry. They
are extensively used to transport industrial and agricultural materials such as
grain, coal, ores, etc. Such systems are also used in self-unloading bulk freighters
and live bottom trucks.
BELT CONVEYOR
SCREW CONVEYORS:

These are meant for powdery or small size materials to be pushed through or
conveyed over very small distances.

SHAKER CONVEYORS

These are suited for large size boulders or stony material or ores, which while under
conveyance, get shed of the loose particles or dust by the shaking action. The
system consists of series of steel trays, through or pans each of 3 to 4m length, laid
with overlaps and connected by bolts or other devices. The trays are made to move
over wheels or rollers(15 to 20cm dia). These conveyors are limited to about 100
meters
CHAIN CONVEYORS

These are built by linking triangulated scraper chains laid on trough or plate which
roll around rollers laid at some distances. Material conveyance is possible
through steep gradients (1 in 3) up or down as well as on level. Can be adopted
for rough purposes and ensures larger output, have less noise. But involve high
cost and power consumption.
