1::Wibree: A ignored
techno.
• Wibree is a short-range wireless protocol optimized
for low power consumption. Developed primarily by
Nokia.
• new wireless networking technology.
• However, Wibree will not be related to current Wi-Fi
technologies, due to the fact that it will not have the
range and bandwidth that Wi-Fi has.
• Instead, Wibree capacities will be more comparable
to Bluetooth, with a range of approximately 30 feet
(10m) and similar bandwidth as Bluetooth (1Mbps).
Continue…
• Wibree operates in the same 2.4 GHz
frequency band as Bluetooth.
• Which ensures backwards hardware
compatibility. Due to this, a single antenna
can support both protocols, and many
existing Bluetooth devices will require only
a simple software update to communicate
with Wibree devices.
Wibree Vs Bluetooth
• The advantage of Wibree over Bluetooth is
that it is a lot more power efficient, which
makes it ideal for use in smaller and less
costly devices than the ones currently using
Bluetooth.

• its lows cost may make it applicable to

smaller devices such as toys, wrist watches,
or sports gear.
Bluetooth Vs Wibree
• Bluetooth 2.0 devices can exceed speeds
of 350 kb/s under ideal conditions.

• This is about three times the maximum

speed of planned Wibree devices, which
transfer data not faster than.128 kb/s.
Features of Wibree
• The main features of Wibree are:

- Ultra low power consumption

- Ultra low cost
- Reduced size for human interface devices
(HID) .
- Global interoperability.
- Wibree can be implemented in both a stand-
alone chip or dual-mode chip that can include
both Bluetooth and Wibree.
2::Insteon
2::Insteon
• INSTEON technology is a dual-band mesh
topology employing ac-power lines and a
radio-frequency (RF) protocol.
• It allows to communicate with and
automate home electronic devices and
appliances, which normally work
independently.
• It is a home automation networking
technology invented by SmartLabs, Inc.
Continue…
• All INSTEON devices are peers, meaning
each device can transmit, receive, and
repeat any message of the INSTEON
protocol, without requiring a master
controller or complex routing software.
Features of Insteon
• Dual-band (powerline + RF)
• Mesh (all nodes repeat, unlike many other
mesh networks where only routers repeat)
• Error detection
• Automatic Error correction
• Backwards compatible with X10
• Faster bitrate than X10 (13,165 bit/s peak and
2,880 bit/s sustained versus X10's 20 bit/s)
Continue..
• "All-Link" provides compatibility between all
products, independent of application,
manufacturer or revision.
• Devices can be hybrid (powerline + RF),
powerline only or RF only
– Power line devices repeat onto the power
lines
– RF bridges repeat power line messages
onto RF and vice-versa.
Continue..
• Devices have permanent unique 24-bit addresses
• Number of devices in a network is unlimited.
• Messages include error detection information.

• Automatic retransmission.

[5]
Applications..
• Scene and remote control lighting.
• Security alarm interfaces and sensors.
• Home sensors (e.g. water, humidity,
temperature).
• Access control (e.g. door locks).
• Heating and cooling (HVAC) control and
management
• Audio-video control Appliance management
• Energy savings

4::DASH 7
DASH 7
• DASH7 is a new wireless data technology
that evolved from a combination of
existing radio-frequency identification and
sensing technologies.
• Products with DASH7 capability built-in or
attached to them will dramatically simplify
the way we keep in touch with the "non-
human" world around us.
Continue..
• Operating at 433 MHz and transferring
data at up to 27.77kbps (potentially as
high as 250kpbs).
• DASH7 provides simple, lightweight, and
reliable communication between electronic
devices.
• DASH7 is both a "read" and "write"
technology that employs advanced power
management techniques to extend battery
life in terms of years, not hours.
Continue..
• while supporting a wide range of
electronic sensors to make it easy, for
example, to monitor the temperature of a
case of fine wine or to sound an alarm if
an intruder attempts to disable a DASH7-
enabled door lock.
• Communication between two DASH7-
compatible devices occurs when they are
brought within approximately 300 feet of
one another and a wireless "hand shake"
is initiated by one or both devices.
Continue..
• The underlying layers of DASH7
technology follow the globally
implemented ISO 18000-7 standard.
