It was the first Saturday of May, Philip and the whole family woke

up early. Excitement filled them and they really did not have a sound
sleep the night before. They used to wake up past seven on ordinary
week-ends. But not that day, for the whole family is set to travel to
Tagaytay and see the magnificent Taal Volcano.
As preparations were done many days before, the family was
able to leave the house even before the early morning sunrise. On
their way to Tagaytay, the children feasted on the verdant scenery.
The next day before they know it, they were already in a hill over
looking the beautiful Taal lake. They were all fascinated with the blue
water of the lake. Taal is 400 meters above sea level. In its crater is
another lake. It had erupted a number of times in the past. In 1754,
the ground swayed beneath the earth and there was panic. The
next recorded eruption was in 1808 where the shape of its crater
changed. Taal volcano had its worst eruption in 1911 when 1,400
people died. The southern side of the volcano was busted when it
erupted in 1967 and yielded another islet. In March of 1991, rumbling
sounds were heard. And on April 2, 1991, the Philippine Institute of
Volcanology and Seismology declared that Taal Volcano had been
giving all the signs of possible eruptions but to this day, it has not.
