Adverb of Interrogative

Adverbs which are used for asking questions


are called interrogative adverbs. There are
several different kinds of interrogative adverbs.
Interrogative adverb is interrelated with other
adverb.

1. Interrogative adverbs of Time: how early,
when, how soon, how long, etc.
When will you finish this job?
How long will you stay here?
How often do you visit them?
How soon can you begin work?

2. Interrogative adverbs of Place: where
Where do you live?
Where has she come from?
Where can I find him?

how much and how often

Relative Adverb
Relative Adverb is an adverb that functions as
a liaison two clauses in a sentence. Same
words with interrogative adverb, the difference
is only on the location of the position, the
relative adverb is usually placed in the middle
of a sentence (between the two clauses), while
the interrogative adverb at the beginning of the
sentence.
For example: where, when, and why.

Where (relative adverb) describes the verb
"was born" while the whole clause "where I
was born" (relative clause) describes the
noun "city".

Although the whole clause is an adjective
(as explained in the independent noun
clause "Bandung is a city", but relative
adverb fulfill a function as an adverb
because it describes the verb in the
relative clause.
