Thornton International
Business Report (GTIBR)-
2011, it has been found that
the key factors influencing
businesses,namelytomanage
costs, build their brand and
attract and retain key staff,
investor relation, tax relief,
government pressure and
savingtheplanet.
In there survey it was found
that globally 25% of
businesses care for CSR
Reporting. Moreover, 44%
agree that this represents best
practice

OnthechangingnatureofCSR
Earlier it was mostly giants that were in some way affecting communities
that undertook CSR as a balancing act. But now, 95% of companies in
IndiahaveaCSRprogramthattoowithoutanyprescribedformulanorany
mandateandifsothenonlyforprivate.
OntheemergingCSRpolicy
The Department of Public Enterprises is in the final stages of preparing
guidelines for Central Public Sector enterprises. It proposes a contribution
from 0.5% to 5%. Another proposal by Salman Khrushid, the former
CorporateAffairsMinister,hasbeenforaCSRcreditsystem.
Ontheroleofgovernment
ItisagoodsignthatPrimeMinisterManmohanSinghandhiscabinet,with
a Corporate Affairs team, are now engaging businesses in to taking
responsibility by issuing CSR voluntary guidelines onwards 2009 to
encourage businesses to formulate CSR policies and plan CSR initiatives
strategically.
