SENTENCE WRITING

for Completion
Writing Sentence
A very simple way
of getting students
to write creatively
isto dictate part of
a sentence which
they then have to
complete about
themselves.
Students can be
asked to write two
or three sentence
about a certain
topic

Each time a new student
goes up to the boart in
such activities , the rest of
the class( or the group

can help by offering

or alternatives.

some of them involve
every single person
writing their own version
of the text.

presented with a
stereotypical
statement and asked
to amend it to reflect
the opinions of the
group.
Just as pictures can
be used to provoke
story writing, so first
and last lines of
posisible stories can
also be used to get
studentsimagination
going.

for others to follow.
This could take the
form of writing
directions to a place.
We can en hance the
value of the story
activities which
involve a sequence of
pictures by adding a
jigsaw element.

Pen pals, e-mails, and
live chat
Letters backwards
Teachers have always
encouraged students
to correspond with
pen pals from different
towns or countries.
We can move on from
the kinds of notes an
e.mails we have been
looking at by getting
students to write
letters to each other.
