• 24th October 2009 marked one of the

first of many (hopefully) reunions in

the Nuremberg area in Germany.
• 8 alumni (including one ex-staff and
one ex-board member) gathered
along with spouses and families to
celebrate Worldwide Woodstock Day.

yearbook. Two pregnant ladies!
Karuna gave birth to a beautiful
baby boy just 8 days after this
picture was taken. Karishma is
still waddling around!

The Tour
• After the Literaturhaus, Karuna and Karishma
took off for some rest while Bob (Spouse –
Karishma ‘96) and Annett (‘96) showed
Mehernush and Rahul around the beautiful city
of Nuremberg.
• Many thanks to Bob for putting together a
blurb about the tour!
• The next slide shows the route taken from the
Literaturhaus to the restaurant where we were
joined by yet more alums for dinner.
The Tour continued
• We started with a brief walk around the Handkerhof (Craftsmen's
Courtyard) - where we were able to see typical old small shops with
toys, metal works, and other crafts.
• Then it was a whistle stop tour right through from South to North of
the Old City (staying within the old city walls) taking in the sights
along the way.
• We passed St Lorenzkirche (St Lawrence Church) - where we had
stopped to look at some of the sculptures and fountains on the
outside.

The Tour continued
• To take in an overview of the city, we stopped in a very non-tourist
attraction of a high rise parking lot. This was however an ideal position
to see the city from a beautifully different perspective including
the main market area and the castle.
• Over the river Pegnitz we were able to view and admire the different
types of bridges and surrounding buildings including the Hospital of
the Holy Spirit and the entrance to the old Meat Market with the bull
sculpture on top of the doorway.

The Tour continued
• At the Hauptmarkt and the Schöner
Brunnen (Main Market & Beautiful
Fountain) we stopped to turn the
'Wishing Ring’.
• Onwards towards the castle, we
passed St.Sebalds Church -  again
admiring the different styles of
architecture along the way.

The Tour continued
• Into Tiergärtnertorplatz - (Zoo Gate Market
place)  - it was impressive to see in this
section of the old town how quite a lot of old
houses made of stone and half timbered
work survived in the ravages f World War II.
The medieval atmosphere of the the square
is enhanced by the fortified buildings on the
north western side. The area has many
attractions including sculptures, Albrecht
Dürer's House (Famous German Artist),  and
of course not to mention the castle.
• This was our last port of call before making
our way just outside the city walls before
arriving a for a well deserved rest and Annett and Mehernush take a short
break in the Hauptmarkt.
dinner just outside the city walls.
Tadsch Mahal
• At the restaurant, the adventurous tourists were rejoined
by Karuna and Karishma, as well as Irene Winkler Walker
(1987), Christoph Bernt (1986) and Stefan Winkler (Board
Vice Chairman – 1997).
• The food at the Tadsch Mahal was excellent, and a good
time was had by all. It was especially fun to go over old
yearbooks from the eighties and nineties.
• Many thanks to all who attended and made the evening
special. See you all next year! (Pictures on the following
slides)
