Facts About Germany


Germany consists of 16 parts the capitol is Berlin (left), and its official name is Bundesrepublik Deutschland. The Flag of Germany is Black, Red, gold horizontal stripes (bottom-left).

The estimated population is 82 million (2006), and the land mass is 357,021.7 km2
The Major religions are Protestant, Roman Catholic, und Rei Evangelishe Kirche.

What are Schools like?


In Germany there are many different schools available. The regular school day for German children is mornings from 8:00 to 1:00. Also the Grundschule teaches the same curriculum to all the children grade 1st though 4th Students in Germany must complete at least 9 years of School if you drop out of the Gymnasium you must attend school at the realschule until the 9 years is over. The Hauptscdhule and the realschule offer vocational training, and apprenticeships, but few opportunities for universities

Living in Germany
You are surely aware that living in Germany has many advantages.
Cultural Aspects Germany is the birthplace of famous composers like Bach, van Beethoven, and Wagner as well as literary geniuses such as Brecht, Goethe, and the Mann family. Accommodation Standards You should be aware that apartments and houses in Germany do not necessarily include light fixtures, kitchen, or bath furnishings. It is not customary for a German apartment to be rented out with a kitchen sink, cabinets, stove, etc. Sport Most cities offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor and indoor sports in Germany. In addition to team sports like soccer, walking, cycling, and inline skating are widespread weekend activities.

How much does studying in Germany cost? Studying in Germany is comparatively cheap: For studying at a German state university (all of the TU9-universities are staterun) no or very reasonable tuition fees are being charged. As education is the responsibility of the states in Germany, fees may vary. The only German state charging tuition fees is Lower Saxony (where TU Braunschweig and Leibniz Universitt Hannover are located). These tuition fees amount to about 500 Euros per semester.

Which scholarships are there? The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers full scholarships to the best graduates of German Schools Abroad. German and international students with very good grades can apply for the Germany Scholarship (Deutschlandstipendium).
