Vijaj Mallya is the son of industrialist Vittal Mallya.

Mallya is originally from town Bantwal

in Karnataka.

He is chairman of United Breweries Group and

Kingfisher Airlines.

As of 2008, Mallya was ranked as the 362nd richest

person in the world $ the 7th in India with a net worth of
US$ 8.2 billion.

In October 1983 Dr. Mallya became chairman.

.In1988 Vijay Mallya became a non-resident Indian to

pursue global opportunities and to transform the UB
Group into India’s first multinational.

In 1996 Mallya acquired the global Berger Paints

Group with operating companies across four
countries.

In 2005 Mallya entered aviation launching Kingfisher

Airlines.
