Male Reproductive System

Consists of a number sex organs that are a part

of the human reproductive process.

Produces, stores and releases the male gametes,

or sperm.

PENIS SCROTUM

Penis
The penis is the male

copulatory organ. It has a long shaft and an enlarged bulbous-shaped tip called the (glans penis), which supports and is protected by the foreskin.

Cont
Urethra: a tube

within the penis that conveys semen out of the body during ejaculation. Glans: the rounded, highly sensitive head of the penis. Prepuce: a fold of skin, covering the head of the penis.

Scrotum
A pouch of skin formed from the lower part of the abdominal wall. The scrotum keeps the testes at a temperature slightly cooler than body temperature.

Testis (plural testes)

The testes are the two-oval shaped male organs that produce sperm and hormone testosterone. Each testis is made of tightly coiled structures called seminiferous tubules.

*Testosterone- the primary male sex hormone

Epididymis
The epididymis, a whitish mass of tightly coiled tubes cupped against the testicles, acts as a maturation and storage for sperm before they pass into the vas deferens, that carry sperm to the ampullary gland and prostatic ducts.

Vas Deferens (Ductus Deferens)

The vas deferens is a thin tube that starts from the epididymis to the urethra in the penis.

They transport sperm from the epididymis in anticipation of ejaculation.

Accessory Glands
They are the seminal vesicles, the prostate

gland, and the bulbourethral glands (Cowper glands).

Seminal Vesicles
The Seminal Vesicles are sac-like structures attached to the vas deferens at one side of the bladder. They produce a sticky yellowish fluid that contains fructose.

Prostate Gland
The Prostate Gland surrounds the ejaculatory ducts at the base of the urethra, just below the bladder.
The Prostate Gland is responsible for making the production of semen.

Bulbourethral Glands (Cowpers gland)

The Bulbourethral Glands are two small glands located on the sides of the urethra just below the prostate gland. These glands produce a clear, slippery fluid that empties directly into the urethra.

PRACTICE

9.The penis consists of spongy body and the cavernous bodies, one of its functions is to deposit the semen during vaginal intercourse in the female reproductive tract by orgasm, and to achieve fertilization of the egg. 10. The glans is the last portion and the widest part of the spongy body has a conical shape. 11.The prostate is a glandular organ of the genitourinary, exclusive men device, shaped like a chestnut, located in front of the rectum and below the bladder outlet. Contains cells that make some of the seminal fluid that protects and nourishes sperm cells in semen. 12. The urethra is the tube through which urine passes from the bladder to outside the body during urination.

13. The bulbourethral glands, also known as Cowper's glands are two glands located below the prostate.
