Questions
Please paste in notebook (if not enough time do it as homework) question 1 is shown by teacher. others done by pupils.
interpret s-t and s-s graph for next class, be prepared for pop quiz and all the homeworks that given is finished
when going out... stand at place & straight quiet put the chair under the table wish thank you walk out in line
THANK YOU
5 mins from class or hall wait outside for teacher do not enter lab without teacher's permission
stand up straight quiet when all in place, wish your teacher(Plan 3)
POP QUIZ
do the pop quiz then paste in your book homework do the exercise page 7 & report in a testpad for PEKA inference hypothesis aim variables
rules & regulation (21/1/14) stand up straight in place (plan 5) quiet wish your teacher doa thank you for passing up PEKA open notebook
previous work graph homework, exercises page 7 let's discuss the answer PEKA please paste in book today, index, Damping & Resonance (21/1/14)(tuesday) Pass out handouts homework pass out handout damping & resonance
let's oscillate a spring system observe what happen after we displace the spring downwards the spring will start to oscillate after some time it will eventually stop if we want it to continue to oscillate we have to force oscillation
what is damping?
damping damping
resonance
resonance
Lab Zone
aim : to demonstrate resonance by using a measuring cylinder filled with water procedure : a 100 ml measuring cylinder is filled with about 45 ml of water a tuning fork i struck and held near the open end of measuring cylinder. the sound produce from the inside of measuring cylinder is notedcarefully at close distance this procedure is repeated using other tuning forks. the loudness of the sounds producedby different tuning forks are compared
observation a very loud sound is produced by forced oscillation of the air column inside the measuring cylinder when one vibrating tuning forks is used. inference : an air column which is subjected to forced oscillation at its natural frquency will vibrate with maximum amplitude to produce a loud sound whereby resonance occurs
tomorrow, be prepared for POP QUIZ stand up put chairs under the table be straight be quiet wish thank you walk out in line
welcome
stand up (plan 1) quiet wish teacher doa open notebook index, 26/1/14 - refraction of waves date submitted - 26/1/14
make sure previous work all complete every page there is date and day if not, it will effect marks for your test see your PBS marks make sure you already pasted the exercise 1.1 from your file inyour note book
refraction of waves
a video on reflection & refraction
refraction of waves
Effects of refraction
refraction on sea waves wave refraction
Effects of refraction
refraction of water waves of sea water 1.When water waves propagate from sea to beach, the water waves follow the shape of the beach 2. It is because the water waves propagated from the deep water to the shallow water 3. The speed and wavelength decrease as the waves approach the beach and hence water wave is refracted towards normal
conclusion
refraction is the change in direction when speed of waves changes when travel at different depth deep area, velocity is high, so wavelength increases phenomena ofrefraction can be seen at the changing of shape of waves when the waves approaches the shore
homework
do exercise 1.2, 1.3 from your file after school re opens i'll check yesterday's homework note on GCKL 2010 be prepared for POP QUIZ on refraction of waves after school re opens
plan 2 POP QUIZ refraction GCKL 2010 practis structure discuss note GC KL 2010, paste in book hand them photocopy of PEKA on pendulum, refraction of light (put in file)
welcome stand up (plan 7) doa take out red pen or pencil and let's discuss the exercises given pass up your book at the end of the lesson today make sure there is index and date for every page index for today is 23/2/14 Sound Waves

Sound Waves Sound wave is a mechanical wave that requires a medium for its propagation. Therefore sound wave cannot propagate in vacuum. The medium for propagation can be solid, liquid or gas. Sound waves propagate fastest in solid and slowest in gas.
Reflection of Sound Wave The clicking sound of the stop watch can be heared clearly when the angle of incidence, i is equal to the angle of reflection, r. Sound waves obey the law of reflection. That is, the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.
The amplitude of the sound wave increases when a balloon filled with carbon dioxide is placed between the speaker and the microphone.
Explanation:
Carbon dioxide is denser than air. The sound wave is refracted approaching the normal when the wave propagates from the air into the balloon, and away from normal when moving out from the balloon. As a result, the balloon acts as a biconvex lens and converge the sound wave at a point.
The amplitude of the sound wave decreases when a balloon filled with helium gas is placed between the speaker and the
Helium gas is less dense than air. The sound wave is refracted away from the normal when the wave propagates from the air into the balloon, and closer to the normal when moving out from the balloon. As a result, the wave is diverged to a wider area and causes the amplitude of the sound wave decreases.
Diffraction of Sound Wave The street cleaner can hear the sound of the radio even though it is behind an obstacle. Explanation: The sound of the radio spreads around the corner of the wall due to diffraction of sound wave.
please pass up your exercise book. (TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN) (ACTION WILL BE TAKEN TO THOSE WHO FAIL TO SUBMIT EXERCISE BOOK) today do 1.4 exercises from your file
