Who? the organization or the ministry responsible of researching and applying this system is the municipality of interior (l dekhliye) in collaboration with the baladiyyet and the society as well wich play a major role in respecting this system and applying it in everyday life.

What? The project is called : SMD which goes for speed mail delivery.. Its a serious subject which has to elaborate the mailing process in lebanon by finding new ways of delivery and introducing society to these new techniques.
Where? the project is to be launched in Lebanon especially and in the sister countries to introduce this facilities to the neighborhood and maybe youwasse3 this project outside lebanon. When? It is to be introduced in the last week of january 2013. Why? this project got the attention of many because it is a major issue that can tou3arkel all people from students to large companies. The country that was mostly evolved in this project was Canada since it tried hard to work it out and find some solutions eventhough it failed for several reasons. How? this system will be launched first through television and internet since these two medium are the fastest ways to get to people through them in addition to radio , then a teasing advertising campaign will be launched after 2 weeks from the tv ad..later on booklets and brochures will be distributed in ministries, and the airport.

Introduction

A post-office box is a uniquely addressable box located in a post office station and it highly contributes in the accuracy of receiving mails. Usually in the Middle East and Africa and all the third world countries the rental of a P.O.box is very expensive and only companies and few people from the high society have the ability to rent one. In this thesis I will try study the standards of developing a post office system and look for how can design help in the development of this system in Lebanon.

Problematic

Why dont we have a P.O.box system in Lebanon? The main problem in Lebanon is that most streets and addresses are not accurate. Usually Lebanese people locate their places by referring to the shop next to them or the color of the buildings if they have one, plus most of the streets have no name and the buildings are not coded. But the major problem is that Lebanese people are not familiar with post office system so it will take them some time to get used to it. So this problem should be dissected and we should look for creative ways to develop the mailing system and educate the Lebanese people about it.

Methodology

The aim of this thesis is to study the mailing system from all sides, study the way it should be developed and what has been done before in Lebanon and in foreign countries. Few years ago, a Canadian company adopted this project, but it was given up in 2001 because it was very complicated and due to funding. Mainly because the roads in Lebanon are confusing and theres lots of alleys and buildings are very close to each others. Throughout this thesis Im going to use the literature type of research to collect data and information about and around this topic and the imperical research to study other cases about the same subject and analyze the positive and negative points of each trial. To back up my research I am going to visit some municipalities to get some official data about the numbers of buildings and the mailing system in some specific towns. So I am going to divide my research into two parts and take 2 different categories of villages and towns in Lebanon and base my research upon them, the first one is going to be a crowdy town with highly demographic numbers and a second one with a little number of people to study the way of living and the cultural backgrounds of their people and support my research.

Outcome

The outcome of this research might be an interactive kiosk that directly connect the sender with the receiver. It might end up with color coding system for the big cities in lebanon. Maybe the system will be applied by opening several stations in amaken mouhaddada that the the sender can stop at and send his mail or package through a time machine or a laser machine that is faster than the light. Automated system similar to the atms.
