    This document discusses VLAN tagging for different service types in a fiber access network. It defines C-VLAN as the inner customer VLAN and S-VLAN as the outer service VLAN. For business services, the ONT adds the C-VLAN and the OLT adds the S-VLAN. For residential HSI, the ONT adds the C-VLAN per user and the OLT adds the S-VLAN.     Terminology

    We use the following terminology according to QinQ IEEE standard:


    C-VLAN
    Customer VLAN Inner VLAN

    S-VLAN
    Service VLAN Outer VLAN

    The following slides refer to upstream traffic direction

    ONT will add S-VLAN. The S-VLAN spans across the Network for carrying Multicast/VOIP traffic. S-VLAN will be passed transparently by OLT & RPR switch. The S-VLAN reserved for MC and shall be unique per IPTV provider to Netwrok.
