Early Life Born Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro on February 5, 1985, in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, a small island off the western coast of the country, Ronaldo is the youngest of four children born to Maria Dolores dos Santos and Jose Dinis Aveiro. He was named after Ronald Reagan, a favorite actor of his father's.

Ronaldo grew up in a largely working class neighborhood, his home a small tin roofed shack that overlooked the ocean. His early life was shaped by hardship; his father, a gardener, often drank too much, and eventually died from kidney problems in 2005. To help keep the children fed, and maintain some financial stability, Ronaldo's mother worked as a cook and cleaning person.

Family Background Cristiano now lives with his cousin, Nuno and his brother in law Ze. When he is not on the field, he is a very family oriented person. Growing up, when he was about to choose soccer as his career, he said that it was very difficult for him as that would mean lesser time with his family, especially his mother, whom he says play a major role in his life.

Cristiano Ronaldo have 2 sisters and one brother, one of his sisters is a famous singer in Portugal and goes by the name Ronalda. Hes older brothers name is Hugo and hes other older sisters name is Elma. His parents names are Dinis and Dolores. Dinis died in September 2005 (age of 52) right before a world cup qualification match. And Ronaldo still went out on the pitch and played the match. Now every celebration includes a pray to his father.
